quote: Are the writers the ones who assign the ratings? If so, a different writer may review the RAA album than that song. If not than that's another story.
I think that there is a group that oversees the rating system to some degree. Like, they will sort of encourage the final score to be in a certain range, but leave it up to the writer to decide what the score is. Also, I think that more important than getting a really high score on p4k is getting BNM. A high score indicates that one writer really enjoyed the album, but BNM seems to me to be indicative of a sort of staff consensus. We've seen it countless times where an album getting an 8.1 will be awarded BNM but an album receiving a 9.0 won't. Of course, this is all just speculation on my part.

Also, Troy, that was cool. It's enlightening to see people doing things in their everyday lives (of course, I doubt you're on Larry King that often). But it's interesting to see somebody on MC doing something that isn't music related. Of course, I fail the test of being an awesome person outside of music; I'm majoring in music history, for Christ's sake. Music is basically the thing that defines me the most. Also, rad suit.

Wow. Really cool Troy. I saw this shirt today. And it's nice sometimes to have proof that it's not true. Also, I wasn't too impressed at first when you said you were on Larry King, but you didn't mention that you hang out with Columbo's daughter. That's pretty gnarly. Gnarly's a legal term right? ---------------------------- There's an ember in the rafters and it's gonna burn this whole thing down.

Sort of like the t-shirt, I always assume that people on these boards are college students who have no idea who Columbo is. I have three younger attorneys in my office who had no concept of who Peter Falk is. They may remember the grandfather from the Princess Bride, but definitely not Columbo.

I followed Troy Aikman there, so he eased the way for me. Besides, I used to tell people that I could have gone to 'SC, but I wanted to earn my diploma instead of buying it.

Yeah, wow, I thought you when you said you were on Larry King that you called in with a question or something. That's a lot of air time. You're a celebrity!

Almost five minutes on national TV and not one RAA plug. Hm... a little suspicious. It's really hard for me to imagine almost any of the regulars on this site as having much of a career outside of listening to music . Perhaps your all lawyers, which might explain why 90% of our posts are argumentative. My uncle is an attorney and got on Geraldo, among other shows, with his client... which was rather entertaining. Amazingly Geraldo pronounced our last name correctly - something I routinely have difficulty doing.

So I had to have ankle surgery two days ago, so I can't go to see the RAA on Saturday in Indy. Bummer.

Hey RL. Just spend the next couple of weeks healing up. Then you can hop a plane to LA and catch the show with crob, joymonger, and me. It'll be more fun that way.

I vote YES on Proposition THAT. It would be awesome if you could come down to LA to join us - though I imagine it's a longshot. And, if you come down early enough, you can come to see The Hold Steady the night before, even the Dirty Projectors the night before that.

Too bad we can't be in two places at the same time, because that same night Andrew Bird, Ra Ra Riot, and the Heartless Bastards are playing in LA too. Damn.

Dang, that's a lot of decent shows for one week. That's the double-edged sword of living near Los Angeles - no band will skip it on their tour, but it's very likely that shows in Los Angeles sell out very quickly and are often very crowded, not to mention tickets seem to be more expensive in LA than when I see shows in Santa Barbara, Ventura, even San Diego. I already have tickets for The Hold Steady and Rural Alberta Advantage, so I'm good for those two.

Ha, that'd be great, but now that my paltry income has been even further decimated by this injury (I had already missed over two months of work when I originally broke it back in February), I can afford a plane ticket less than ever.

Get well soon, man. As much as I'd love to meet you and many of the other faces here on MC, I forget that people here have lives outside of the little bit of information that filters into our posts. We can only hope that we get the opportunity some other time, and though it's very unlikely, we've all made some sort of impact on one another's lives through our discussions on these forums. But in all seriousness, get well soon.
