I hate to bust a lot of the bubbles around here, but its not that good. Its not bad, just not as spectacular as you would believe from reading this thread. Anyways, I'll guess low 8's, probably around 8.1. That may still get them Best New Music.
The Devil's website has already shown an interest in The RAA by saying some very positive things after SXSW and breaking the news that they signed with Saddle Creek. Also, P4k is affiliated with eMu, so there will probably be a bias towards the band. I would say that high 8's are possible.

That was a nice track, bro. It'll sound even better out of the studio.
Yeah, thanks a lot for this, FoT. Also, I guess I've been slacking in the last few days, 'cause I didn't notice the Pitchfork story about Saddle Creek. Awesome, awesome news. Very glad to hear it, and I can't wait for the P-fork review.

I'm not on the same page with the reviewer as far as what's good and not about the album. "Drain the Blood" and "Sleep all Day" are fantastic, the 2nd half of the album is just as good if not better than the 1st, and the rocking songs like "Deathbridge in Lethbridge" and "Luciana" are the weakspots. However, I agree with the overall opinion as the 77% from CMG translates to "Solid; few major reservations."

OKAY OKAY OKAY!!! I've been somewhat of a detractor from this band for a while now, but I think it's really starting to turn around on me.
Damn. I hate liking something I previously didn't care much for.
I still don't think it's mind-blowing. Good indie-pop, reminds me of what Clap Your Hands Say Yeah would be like with less distortion [and, at this point, minus the terribleness]. Man it's a shame about CYHSY.

Mwhahahahaha!
Another brainwashing on my way to world domination for the RAA!
All is going according to my evil plan.

If someone can assure me that the re-release is gonna be a digipak, I'll go ahead and buy it, even though I already own the self-released edition. No way I shell out though if it's a piece of shit jewel case. Why do they still make jewel cases, seriously? But that's a whole 'nother topic I suppose.

Amen, brother.
What if it's remastered? Would you buy it then, even in a jewel case?

You're pushing the limits of fan-dom, my friend. lol
I crossed that line a long time ago.
Haha, yah you did. I don't think I've seen somebody love a band as much as you do since...well...never. Maybe Beatlemania, but that was a bunch of people...and you...you're just one person.
On a different note, you going to that Decemberists show next week?

I am a host unto myself.
Maybe I'm obsessed. Maybe I'm one step away from getting a restraining order against me. But, now it's more than just liking their music, which I honestly do. I've met these guys. They're quality people. I've helped them where I can. Loving music the way I do, it's just so neat to me to find a band at the beginning and watch them rise. I'd have to say this is one of the coolest things I've ever been a part of.
As for the Decemberists show, I'm not sure yet. I am really tempted. But, I just got done with a trial, and my family has not seen much of me lately. Don't know if it would be fair to them to abandon them for the night to catch a show. If I change my mind, though, I'll let you know.

I got a bunch of people in my office into them, so I'm hoping to pack the joint.
Never been to The Echo before. It should be interesting.
I don't think I've been there before either, though I'm considering catching one of those 4 Art Brut shows (I'm poor as hell since Coachella though).
I'll be able to get at least two or three others to go, and with any luck I'll get plenty of others if the word gets spread around. With some endorsements from stereogum or p4k, it'll be a sure sell. College kids aren't as open minded as you'd hope.
