Do we have any Go-Betweens fans here?

I may be somewhat biased as we share the same hometown, but I regard them as one of the greatest, most literate, and most evocative indie bands ever.

Robert Forster has just released his first solo album in about ten years, and first since co-Go-Between Grant Mclennan passed away in 2006. You can listen to a stream of the album (The Evangelist) on his website at the moment and it sounds lovely.

16 Lovers Lane is easily one of the greatest albums of all time in my eyes. I would have never fallen so hard for them if it wasn't for my mother. She would play their music around the house when I was a little tyke. Jesus, that must have been twenty years ago. Anyways, fantastic group!

One of my favourite groups...although most of the albums manage to contain one or two clunkers, the high points are amazing. That said, for my money, Liberty Belle.... is practically flawless and Cattle and Cane would rate as a definite in my desert island discs.

Hard to pick a favorite Go-Betweens but perhaps The Friends of Rachel Worth might come closest. Last year's Forster & McLennan solo collection, Intermission: The Best of the Solo Recordings 1990-1997, was amazing.
