I think you're getting trolled beyond belief. Please understand that this is the Internet. Serious business does not apply. If he says some shit that opposes your moxy or whatever, just ignore it.
Jack, you're fucking hilarious.

This is a redundant post. If I'm interested in a band/act, I don't need some guy constantly poking at my knee to give them a shot. Some guy made a thread about this band called 120 days, and it got basically no feedback. It also didn't have a lot of "OMG Y RN'T U POSTING". It was basically, "check em out, they deserve a shot. Take it or leave it."
I have opened two threads trying to give a band some attention; The Royal We and Past Lives. I got no feedback, but it's really whatever. If Glass mentions a band once, it's not his duty to keep pressing it in people's faces. I think he's allowed to be frustrated that a band doesn't get the exposure they deserve. Everyone is allowed that.
That's just my $0.02 CAD.

Ya, I feel the same way, as most people probably do. We're trying to get people to listen to a band we think is really great and no one seems to know about, yet there's no feedback. It's whatever though, can't really force someone somewhere on this planet to listen to them.
And about the whole jglass thing, sure, I could ignore it, but it takes 30 seconds to type out a sentence and hit the post button, so I don't think I'm really wasting my time, it's not like I'm going to go into a flame war with him or something. I said what I thought, and I'm done with it, it's my first, and last time I'll say something to him.
And RL, yes, Elephant Micah... I've heard of him a bit and I think I listened to him and digged his stuff, but didn't really take a serious look into finding his CDs. I'll take another listen.

My point was this: There have been times when I post about an album once or twice, and nobody responds. Then, I post about an album a third time, and I get responses that say - "Yeah, I checked that out. It's great." That recently happened with Other Lives.
Glass' beef with me seems to be that I "try too hard". I'm sure that he is not the only person that I've annoyed. But, for as simple as it would be for me to ignore his snide, juvenile, and homophobic comments, it would be just as easy for him to ignore my redundant posts about music I enjoy.
I can't image why someone would be offended by someone who comes on these boards to discuss music they enjoy. Isn't that why we all come to these boards? As I have pointed out before, my posts are almost uniformly positive. I don't attack people for their musical tastes and I don't attack people unless I've been attacked. I abhor the "over-rated" or "over-hyped" threads because they mainly consist of people dumping on other people's musical tastes. I really enjoy the "under-rated" or "under-hyped" threads because they give people a chance to promote bands they love that don't get the amount of attention that Animal Collective does.
By the way, I checked out both The Royal We and Past Lives when you posted about them. I liked Past Lives, but The Royal We didn't do it for me.
Also, this is 2009. Calling a gay person gay wouldn't offend them what so ever. Also, 'gay' is one word that has lost its meaning a LONG time ago. ALSO, he wasn't being homophobic in any shape or form, as nowhere did he declare that he hates gays/wants them to die/etc.
If Kanye can get it... well, let's hope everyone else can. lol

I love it when someone starts arguing about something, and when they get logically pwned, they come back with "Uh, yeah, this isn't serious. I totally don't care. This is the internet." Also when someone excuses all malicious language by saying that it's "trolling," and therefore there is nothing wrong with it.
The internet is a social interaction like any other, and you are not absolved from standards of decency simply because you're on a computer.
And yes, it is still homophobic to refer to things you don't like as "gay" like you're a 6th-grader "trying too hard" to be cool. Jglass, you sometimes get crapped on without deserving it, but you're really out of line on this one, as is RSG.

Yeah, definitely do so. Like I said, he has several of his albums, including the amazing Agrarian Malaise available for free download on his website.
Since my post got stuck on the very bottom of the first page, I'll go ahead and copy the links to the two Elephant Micah songs I posted before:

Maybe I was out of line, but let's get something straight; to refer to something as "gay" in that fashion is immature... not homophobic. It's like calling someone who doesn't like a band that you do "retarded". It's not an inconsiderate statement to mentally challenged (or whatever politically correct term it is now), it's just plain immature.
Also, I don't see the "logical pwning" on any front. The internet is full of its own terminologies, as is other fields like law, business, medical, and tons more. I could say JGlass was "pushing his buttons" or I could say he's "trolling". It's the same deal.

I see where you're coming from, and I was maybe a bit premature to throw out the homophobia accusation. I suppose it isn't necessarily an indication of homophobia really, sort of like displaying a Confederate flag isn't necessarily a sign of racism. I think the "retarded" comparison is pretty revealing actually. I use that phrase on occasion, and I agree it's not a slam on people who are literally retarded. The difference though, is that it is widely agreed that being retarded is an unfortunate fate, something that is clearly an impediment to living a full life. To use "gay" in the same manner implies that being gay is "bad" in the same sort of way that being retarded is undesirable.
When I was first at college, I knew a football player (from the South) who referred to people he didn't like as "niggers." One of his friends was like "man, you gotta stop doing that," and the guy responded that when he called someone a nigger he wasn't expressing anything against black people; to him, the definition of "nigger" was simply a synonym for "bad person" or something similar. Clearly, this is worse than calling something you don't like "gay"--partly because the term itself is highly offensive while "gay" in most situations isn't--but I still think there's a lesson there.
All of this is far from obvious, and I'm not trying to slam you or anyone else because I don't believe you or Jglass harbor any prejudices against gay people. I'm just trying to explain the reasons why some people might find using "gay" as a synonym for "bad" offensive.
Sorry for the long-winded derail, but I just wanted to sort of clear up some of the poop-throwing that's been going on and make sure everybody gets properly hosed off.

You're kind of an idiot. You actually think that a mentally retarded person wouldn't be offended by you using the word 'retard' as an insult to someone else? Obviously you weren't paying attention to the backlash Obama got from his comments on the tonight show.
And personally, I see it as an insult to be called 'gay', as do a lot of people, that's why we use the term to insult somebody/thing. The people I hang with don't think it's cool for two guys to screw each other, we think it's disgusting.
