Since I've heard and been kinda unimpressed with the new Sonic Youth, I guess none of those sound too exciting. I guess I'm looking forward to the new Bjork and the Carl Newman solo album.

This is gonna make me seem like an annoying cynic, but: I don't like Nurse much, I don't like Uh Huh Her at all, and Louden Up Now is way too inconsistent. A Ghost Is Born, though, is great, and I'm picking it up the moment it hits stroes.

I picked SOnic Youth off of that list (having not heard it yet) but having taken a look at the upcoming releases on Metacritic, I think I am most looking forward to the Clinic and GBV albums way at the end of August.
i've got plenty of sy albums. i've got plenty of wilco albums. only have 1 !!! 12", so i voted for them. interesting to see if they can match me and guliani, of it was just, an admittedly awesome, fluke.

From that list, I'll go with Wilco, although I'm a little worried about it being a disappointed after the last two records raised the bar so high.
Off that list, I'm looking forward to Westerberg's "Folker", if it gets out this summer. Also, Josh Rouse's live DVD and rarities cd combo is high on that list.

I hope that you're right about Wilco, but i've never once had a problem with them (first song is usually my fave.) Well, I've had time today to listen to PJ and SY. My first impression is that PJ's can't hold a candle to her last, best, but it's VERY good, about an 8. Also, Sonic Youth isn't as good as "Murray Street" (another attempt at commercialty through 9/11.) That was terrific; this is merely very good, but not "flyable", as in take it like a frisbee and fly it through the park of your choice. Later, gators.

it's not a summer release, but i just cannot wait for the crooked rain, crooked rain rerelease in october. Slanted and Enchanted: Luxe and Reduxe was just soooooo good. But out of that list i would probably say wilco
I lied about Uh Huh Her; I now like most of it, though it careens through styles a bit too quickly. About one-third of it is absolutely indispensable: "Shame," "The Slow Drug," "It's You," and "The Desperate Kingdom of Love" would make any best-of-PJH mix I could imagine.

Really looking forward to Clinic's 'Winchester Cathedral.' The only constant about this group seems to be their surgical mask-fetish. I'll be damned if 'Internal Wrangler' isn't one of the most successfully weird albums of the past several years.

I wasn't really taken with Clinic's first two albums, but Winchester Cathedral is fantastic. It's much more in-your-face, in its own way, and thus rides a crest of excitement through its runtime. I also found its tracks to have a lot greater variety than those on Internal Wrangler: it makes good on the aspirations that parts of Walking With Thee had for a "new Clinic sound."

Upon reading your post, that has just become my most anticipated release of 2004. I've been holding off on buying Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain for almost a year because I've been waiting for the re-release with extras.
And among the list above, Sonic Nurse was my most anticipated. Of the albums yet to come out, ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead's pending new album ranks highest. Hopefully, it doesn't disappoint.
Along with the new one by the reunited Camper Van, the reunion album by the also recently reunited American Music Club stands as one of the most eagerly awaited records of the last few years, in my book.
And SMiLE is well-worth that second job, Lola.
