It's been flagging in recent months, but for a long time I couldn't pick up a music mag (especially British) without seeing some gossipy article on Pete Doherty. The Libertines have had their moment in the spotlight, and as far as I can tell they're not gonna go much further.

Is there more to it than just the "celebrity" machine, or a fascination with the rock 'n roll lifestyle? It's almost like he's been pegged as the new Keith Richards, when he's hardly earned it. I'm just not seeing why this drug-addled mess of a guy whose band's moment has passed continues to be so relevent.

It's because of all the drama with Kate Moss. He also does more drugs than anyone ever.
