I will second Meredith Monk. Great recommendation! You should all check her out if you're in the dark.
I found the Portishead self titled album quite disturbing, with all the vocal distortions.
While I don't find Brainiac eerie at all, it's definitely good stuff, and I'll second that recommendation as well.
But the undisputed winner for me has got to be Mr. Bungle! There's practically no other way to describe them-- especially the self titled album. I was terrified when I first heard it. In the best way.

the fire show - saint the fire show Brian Deck and Graehme Gibson do an amazing job on the production for this album. I think they outdid liars at this game before liars were really trying to be experimental.

When I was in the hospital with meningitis a friend of mine who visited me would sing this song to me. Still cracks me up and is freaky at the same time.
