any reason why there isn't already a thread about this album?
I know it's gotten some mixed reviews, and on my first listen i didn't really think it was a terrific album, despite loving Ted Leo immensely. However I think I've come up with a solution, and that's to re-edit it! If you have trouble loving this album, try the following song order:
1. Fourth World War 2. Some Beginner's Mind 3. The Sons of Cain 4. Colleen 5. Army Bound 6. La Costa Brava 7. Annunciation Day/Born on Christmas Day 8. The Lost Brigade 9. C.I.A. 10. Old Souls Know (off the Mo' Living cd) 11. The Unwanted Things 12. The Toro and the Toreador
I think it flows a lot better and gets rid of some of the clutter (and still clocks in at 51 minutes)
that's my $.02

It's good, but I was expecting great from Ted. La Costa Brava, Sons of Cain, Who Do You Love, and CIA are all completely awesome Ted songs, but then there's so-so stuff like World Keeps Turning and The Lost Brigade, and absolute drek like The Unwanted Things. Really a mixed bag.
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

I think it's decent, way better than Shake the Sheets (that album really disappointed me) but not as good as Hearts of Oak and nowhere near as good as Tyranny of Distance
