I thought we had a topic about Sunset in here, but I can't seem to find it anywhere, so apologies in advance if there is one already.
Anyway, I know there has been some talk about Sunset's release Bright Blue Dream, and rightfully so. So I figured it should be known that his new one is miles ahead of Bright Blue Dream. It can be found streaming on last.fm.
The music itself is somewhat different than Bright Blue Dream. There are still a few dreamier, more ambient songs scattered throughout the 18 tracks, but for the majority of the songs are far poppier and less repetitive. It's not a huge departure though, the sound of the album is overall still pretty similar to Bright Blue Dream (though it seems to be much "fuller" and more triumphant I suppose) .
My first few listens of the album were spent waiting for a bad song to pop up and stick out, but there really aren't. Every single song on the album is spectacular in it's own right. At 18 tracks, that's quite an accomplishment. Yes it is a long cd, but it's an outstanding and surprisingly cohesive one that should be heard by everyone on this board.
As of now, this is the masterpiece of 2008 I've been waiting for. Nothing else comes close in my opinion. I know that's quite a lot to say about an album so soon, but I do truly mean it.
Hmm. I listened to Bright Blue Dream and kinda liked it, but not all that much. I would've passed on the new one, but ifother people like it anywhere near as much as you do, I'll have to give it a shot.

I haven't heard Bright Blue Dream, but I did happen upon their myspace and was struck by the samples there. They are streaming their new album, "The Glowing City" on lastfm.
I haven't really been thinking about my list very much this year, but I will definitely have to pick this one up.
i'm a big fan of Bright Blue Dream mostly because of the atmosphere it conveys so i was really disappointed by my first listen of The Glowing City. I couldn't stand the much pop-ier sound. didn't even finish it cuz i actually found it too repetitive in its pop elements. but i'll definitely give it a few more listens
Mix a little folly with your plans: It is sweet to be silly at the right moment.
I still haven't given this album a complete listen because last.fm's streaming annoys me and the songs I heard didn't do much for me... maybe when I listen to the album I'll like it as much as Bright Blue Dream. How funny would it be if both of Bill Baird's albums wound up on our MC-forums year-end list?
