I hope this swings the discussion. Please.
Sorry I didn't really understand this. Could u reiterate? I'm not being an asshole, I genuinely don't understand what you're getting at. Maybe I'm missing something.

There was a period of time when every discussion seemed to wind up moving to a debate on the subject of whether "indie" is just a status (re: record label) or if it become a way to accurately describe a certain sound (i.e. a genre).
I was joking about hoping that my comment would alter the discussion's course..
Last night I was listening to Gorillaz. If they don't have soul...OTOH, I saw Kanye West on SNL the other night, sampling Daft Punk...here's the (supposed) top hip-hop artist in the world - and he's sampling two (white) French dudes...Just some observations...

I know such a genre doesn't exists, but I'm looking for albums/songs which has that joyful irish spirit within, with these happy folkish riffs all the way.

i think it would help if someone define what being "indie" is. Can a band be indie on a major label? Can a band be on a major label, get dropped and become indie? I remember when master P's No Limit Records was an indie rap label, so where is the line drawn? It would be nice if the whole genre label thing would be dropped, but that is as likely as world peace.

Yeah we've had countless discussions about that same topic. Check out some opinions here.
