What? Voting Yes doesn't even begin to compare to Transatlanticism! Death Cab purists bug me because their old stuff isn't in any way superior to their new albums. They underwent a HUGE transformation between The Photo Album and Transatlanticism. It's in the lyrics, in the melodies. There's just no denying it. Voting Yes has it's moments, I love Title Track, but it is by no means a masterpiece.

how about we chalk this up to personal preference? personally, i can't even listen to transatlanticism or anything after the Photo Album. i like Voting Yes and Photo Album so much better. The reason is that i actually liked Death Cab when those albums came out, so I'll always have a place for them. I saw them play with Dismemberment Plan right after the Photo Album, and so it's the time and place that I listened to them. Now, I can't listen to anything because I think they're shite.

I'd say that the same transformation that treesgetwheeledaway loves is what DCfan hated. I like both, but I'll admit that I prefer the poppier stuff of the later albums. Photo Album is great, but for something to mindlessly listen to and tap my toes, Plans or Transatlanticism does it. Their old stuff can get a leetle drony for my tastes.

However, I should totally get my hands on Voting Yes.

Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

Well said...I think I just liked that their older stuff was a little more arty/experimental, making it more interesting to me.

IMO i don't think the band "sold out". their music stayed the same.

just many many MANY new people started listening at the same time and all chaos went about amongst dcfc fans. some turned on them some stayed loyal.

i was among the loyalists.

BUT as for your question on this cd i was not a big fan of it when it came out. but since two things changed my outlook on this cd greatly.

one i was in savannah driving to the beach(after getting tore up from that night, no sleep i might add) at maybe 6am while the sun was rising. the person in the car hadnt heard the new cd yet so we played it. windows down. sun rising. perfect chill in the air.

it almost felt like the cd was recorded just for that moment. so i guess each listener just to has to find that moment for themselvs.

the second thing was another one of my friends bought the videoes from the plans cd. i forgot what it was called exactly but dfc had their fans make videos themselfs for each song on the cd.

that was an awesome dvd and i highly suggest finding it Smiler
