Yeah I don't know what Mascis is thinking. I mean he's putting out a fucking great album in May and then he just goes and makes the ugliest shoes these eyes ever did see. No accounting for taste, I guess.

I think the more appropriate question is what the hell is Nike thinking? That shoe is horrendous - I wouldn't want my company's name on anything that ugly Red Face I'm inclined to believe that those pictures are not the real deal. Is this seriously the way the shoes are going to look?

I hate to say it, but those still won't be the ugliest shoes Nike makes. Have you seen the more recent Jordan models? Those things are hideous. And they cost $125.

I can't tell the songs on this album apart. They're all boring to me, but they are good, I suppose. The solos on almost every song are really getting to me.

Yeah I have to admit that my second listen didn't go anywhere near as amazingly as the first. I mean the first four songs are still incredible, but I did get a bit bored near the end. But that's what 3rd and 4th listens are for!

I haven't heard it, but your comment on solos got me. Mascis' early solos were freaking awesome. The feedback and noise he created go toe-to-toe with anything Sonic Youth did. And then, he went all Guitar Center on us on their later stuff. I'll take the screaming, wailing solos anyday over the noodling crap he later did. I hope he goes back to what made him a guitar legend, and what he'll be remembered for.

I liked his old solos too, but here they're really dull. Every song follows the same formula of verse-chorus-verse-solo, so it's entirely predictable.

Don't forget the songs that have a solo from start to finish over the top of the whole song. Only J could do that and get away with it, at least back when he did it.

Would you like lies with that?

The critics have been comparing it to "You're Living All Over Me", which is a fuggin' classic especially since they put out that gem in 198freaking7. If so, I'm sure to pick it up eventually.

Well, it's no You're Living All Over Me, but it's good nonetheless. One of the better albums of the year, actually. And that's saying a lot, considering how this year has been going so far.

Better than J. Mascis' "solo" Dinosaur Jr. stuff, which really isn't bad, either.

This is probably approaching my favorite album of the year so far. I'm liking it more everytime I listen to it. It really brings me back to my youth. My God, it sounds exceedingly like a lot of the rock music at that time, including other Dino Jr. works.

It's good. One of the highlights of the year so far for me. YLAOM has the edge though I think, so I'll say its my second favourite Dino album.
