Imprezu, for such a cool guy, why aren't you so up on the ROCK side of things. This band is about the sixth-coming of Jesus and Mary Chain, but I think they're the first one which has both sexes singing. You might know something I don't, but I'm pretty sure the woman is pure-Scandinavian. You are aware that several Scandinavians are named Wang, aren't you? Well, now you are. (Several of my in-laws with blonde hair and blue eyes were named Wang!) These guys are really good, but probably better if you like the Hives or J&MC. I recommend them as a fun group who really like to sing about sex, driving fast, and pissing the establishment off.

I like the Raveonettes just fine...I think the JMC (or Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, if you missed the 80's)comparison is fair, but filter it through some Phil Spector-ish production and maybe toss in some girl group sounds (Shangri-La's?) and some Blondie into the mix. It's a pretty cool mix of disparate elements.

If you're a JMC fan, though, I recommend a different import...Iceland's Singapore Sling, who make a wholly JMC inspired ruckus!

pE, I'm a little bit surprised that you know so much about Marlon Brando's motorcycle club (BRMC), and especially Singapore Sling (probably my favorite!) I thought YOU didn't like the LOUD parts.

P.S. This is insignificant, but if you want to mention Spector, why don't we go with the obvious, the RONETTES.

Sharin Foo

i dont know how reputable a source this is...but this is where i saw it.

Only reason i became interested in this band.Is because i know that buck 65 is like in love with her....so he says.So after downloading a few songs and coincidently seeing a video...it seems like this could be a fun band?

Thanks.

OK, according to this, she is a natural blonde, six-feet tall and 1/4 Chinese on one of her grandpa's sides. Just shows how much I know.

A little bit of the B-flat minor/major business goes a long way for me, though.

I'd rather see them mix things up a bit on their next release.

I actually like their first two recordings quite a bit, especially Whip It On. Every song on it is really good, aside from that weird drone song in the middle. What was up with that? Their last album was a too long for its own good, but it still had some good stuff between a little filler. Cool band.

I think what I'm learning about this band and their new album is that you really need to be able to turn it up and appreciate the loud/soft (particularly loud) dynamic that they employ. With sufficient volume these songs really take off for me when they suddenly veer into a "loud" "segment".

I remember one of my best friends in high school was obsessed with the idea of having sex to Pretty in Black. It's a great album, and although I may not generally prefer the ladies I found that drunkenly making out with a gorgeous female German foreign exchange student with this album blasting was quite an enjoyable experience.

...ummm...
