I've got enough credits to download approximately five albums, and a ton of stuff on my wait list. Can you guys help me to decide which of the following albums I should download:

Love is Simple - Akron/Family
It's A Bit Complicated - Art Brut
Spirit If . . ./BSS presents Kevin Drew
Andora - Caribou
Friend Opportunity - Deerhoof
Beyond - Dinosaur Jr.
Boss - Magik Markers
Pela - Anytown Graffiti
Marry Me - St. Vincent
We Walked in Song - The Innocence Mission
Challengers - New Pornographers

Thanks for your help.

It's a Bit Complicated is a dark horse for my top 10. It's a hell of a lot of fun and Eddie's band is in fine form here.

Personally, the Kevin Drew and Deerhoof albums are the only ones that aren't completely average to me.. but there a lot of other albums that I'd get rather than those.

Have you tried streaming those to make sure they'll be worth it?

Pela is good. I would suggest it if you want something safe that you are sure to find a few good songs (at least) on. Of course it's not amazing, or album of the year, but it's far from disapointing.

The best of that bunch are Dinosaur Jr., Pela, and Kevin Drew in that order.

Dinosaur Jr. is the only one I'd consider top 10 material.

I thought the new Art Brut was good (even though I don't like the old) but because of the vocals (if you wanna call them that) I can only listen to it in small doses.

While "We Walked in Song" is a solid album, most of their previous releases are better. So if you want to get into the Innocence Mission then buy "Glow" or "Birds of My Neighborhood".

I have both Glow and Birds of My Neighborhood. I loved Glow. Never really got into Birds . . . I should probably revisit that one.

I belong to emusic and get 100 downloads a month for $24.99. So, I'm spending $.25 per track. So, if I download something I don't like, no big deal, since I only spent about $2.50 to $3.00 for the album.

On average, I discover 4 or 5 great albums a month, and only a few that are so-so, so I come out way ahead.

I haven't seen this one mentioned much on these boards, but from what I've heard, it does sound fun.

I listen to The Hold Steady a lot, so I'm used to slightly annoying vocals. It just becomes part of the charm of the band.

Well, I'm glad there's another fan on MC. Birds is actually my favorite, probably because it was the first record I had heard by them.

My wife and I saw them play an in-store performance after they released Glow many years ago. We stuck around and talked to them after the show. They were very gracious. I love Karen Paris' vocals.

That was over a decade ago. I hadn't heard much of them since Birds . . . I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were still around and that this album was getting some props on MC.

First off, Hold Steady have annoying vocals, huh?

Second, these aren't vocals. They are talking with no expression whatsoever; completely monotone.

Does Emusic have DRM?

Deerhoof, New Pornos, Innocence Mission (one of the most underrated albums of 07).

New Pornos and St. Vincent, if you ask me. St. Vincent is criminally underrated on this board.

That's awesome. I've never seen them in concert and I agree her vocals are lovely.
