I don't why their debut album, Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters is getting little to no talk--not even on metacritic and only a select few of us are even talking about it--but this is a stellar band. The album is strong and very solid, one of the best of the year. Best way to describe them (and some of this is borrowed) is an Interpol/The National mix but a bit noiser and maybe better melodies, plus the singer has a Scottish accent and they like to use the accordion! This is a great album by a band that is under the radar. I don't know if there is a stream anywhere but most of the songs off their album are at The Hype Machine. What is everyone waiting for?

It was talked up last month. I also remember somebody hip upset that half of the songs were on their EP. I'm enjoying it since I'm hipless. Cool

I imagine more people will be talking about it since it got an 8.6 and a "Best New Music" tag from P4K today.

I'm already pre-determined against them because the p4k review mentioned the singer sound like the dude from Arab Strap, who has the dubious honor of being the worst live band I've ever seen. But I will definitely give them a chance, a lot of people on this board seem to like Twilight Sad.

Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

I just listened to this yesterday and I like it quite a bit. I think the lead singer sounds like the singer from Snow Patrol. Although, I don't exactly enjoy Snow Patrol's music.

Well, the album didn't come out last month, it came out last week. So some of us started talking about it when we legally heard it. I know that I like to wait until the actual release date or at least very close to it (in case I hear a stream a few days before) before I start talking about it.

I didn't know that P4K had reviewed it or was even going to review it. We now await for the bandwagon to be filled.

Man, the singer sounds like the Chieftans or something. Pretty thick accent. I like the wall of noise guitars.

FYI, the Chieftains are Irish, not Scottish.

Yeah, I knew that. The singing voice is similar and the accents aren't that different.

I like this album. Nothing mind-blowing for me, but a pretty good listen.

If you're referring to my comments on another page I can assure you I'm very uncool. I'm also an idiot. There are only 3 of the songs from the ep on this album. I just got this in the mail and I hope the other 6 are as good as what's on the ep.

Man, I played their ep for a buddy of mine about a month ago and he said "I didn't know Willie was in a band". HA!

This album is streaming here. You need to scroll to the bottom, go to the right and you will see something that says "KIJK EN LUISTER." Underneath that there is some volume icons, a movie reel icon and a CD icon. Click on the CD icon and the stream will open up with about ten different albums to stream. Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters is one of them, along with the new ones by Arctic Monkeys and Feist, to name a few.

Not my favorite kind of music, but done so well that I find myself drawn to it anyway.

The image of Willie rocking out definately adds something to the listening experience.

After listening to this album some more, I realize about half of I just love, and the other half I'm just kind of "eh" on.

Songs that I love:
Cold Days from the Birdhouse
That Summer...
Walking For Two Hours <--awesome
Mapped By What Surrounded Them
And She Would Darken The Memory

The rest is pretty good, just not incredible like the songs listed above.

I love this album!

I hate to admit it, but I hadn't heard of The Twilight Sad until Pitchfork reviewed them.

However, I didn't pay attention to them until I was prompted to purchase the album by positive mentions on this forum, though. So thanks!

I love the accent, by the way. Much cooler than my mid-western non-accent!
