I can't believe this is how I feel, but I can't get past the singer's voice. What's crazier is that none of the more annoying indie singers bother me like Deerhoof, Animal Collective, Spencer Krug, CYHSY, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc. And this guy has a nice voice. Its just the accent is so freaking in your face Scottish. Man, it bugs me for some reason.

Wow! Accents are cool, especially Scottish, Welsh and French.

...no shame in hearing about music from pitchfork. it's still the best reviewer online, or offline, for that matter.

I guess I'm not ashamed, because I love Pitchfork. I guess the hipster hidden inside me likes to pop out from time to time and say that he found something on his own.

Honestly, I wouldn't have bothered to listen to The Twilight Sad if people on these forums didn't rave so much about them.

I downloaded the album, but it's one of the releases I love too much to not own, so I went out and bought it the other day. It doesn't look like it'll leave my car stereo anytime soon.

Brilliant!

Arab Strap sings early Kitchens of Distinction.

Takes me back to my university days.

Dont get me wrong this is a good album but perhaps the pitchfork review is a little too favourable. I think the album has distinct standout tracks - 'Cold days..' 'That Summer..' 'And She Would..' in particular, but i think it does not quite live up to those standards elsewhere. Also its influences come across strongly (good though they are). As for the voice / accent i can see why people might not like it but i for one have no problem with it, especially with the way the line 'putting the boot in' comes out in 'And She Would Darken..' it always makes me smile for some reason

All in all a good album perhaps a 79

You have incurred my wrath. I will hunt you down. Mad

This is such a good album, I can't stop listening to it. I can sort of understand the Arab Strap comparisons because of the accent, but Aidan Moffat can't sing at all, hence Arab Strap being not exactly stellar live on occasion (although Malcolm Middleton's great live). James Graham on the other hand has a great voice. Personally I think a better comparison is Roddy Woomble with a stronger brogue.

I owe thanks to FKA for introducing this to me, but I haven't looked back since. Easily my most listened to album of the year, and I can't envisage it not making my top 3 come the end of the year.

This is easily one of my favorite albums of the year. I love the accent, love the music. It's all pretty wonderful.

I listened to this twice last night. Not sure what to make of it yet . . . Were the Proclaimers Scottish?

Yes the proclaimers were scottish and i must admit the first time i listened to it the proclaimers came to mind, which is not a good thing and perhaps subconciusly part of the reason why there is somthing about this album that stops me from really loving it.

I'm sorry , but this guy's accent just kills the album for me. I can't stand it.

Obviously you can't blame the guy because he is just singing in his natural voice, but regardless it makes the vocals just annoying.

Oh man, I like this guy's accent. I thought it would be intolerable like Arab Strap, but it's pretty neat I think.

Not a bad album.

I just listened to it again the other day and really enjoyed it also. There is just nothing that fully sucks me in. It's like good music at my neighbors house. It's just not mine.
