Following the advice of Maximum Jack, here is the thread to check out when you want recommendations for anything indie-related. Trust me, other than these, there are still about a dozen more threads dealing with indie. So if you are looking for new music, want some suggestions, want to know what the top albums are, etc. This is the place to check:

Top 10 Absolute Indie Must-Haves of the 'Naughts

if you had to pick 5 indie albums...

Best Indie Rock bands.

Debate (About indie of course)

Is indie Dead?

Blender's "The 100 Greatest Indie-Rock Albums Ever"

Female indie singers

And like I said, tons more.

I'd say just about any thread here is good for recommendations. These forums have a definite slant toward indie rock, so as long as you stay out of the categories that are explicitly non-indie, you should find some good indie recommendations.

Most of us here could easily rattle off 100 bands and albums newbies should check out, but if you look around the site, we've already done that.

Nice work FKA. I would also suggest anyone new to the site and looking for recommendations to do a quick 'search' for their favorite artists before posting a thread like "I Love the Magnetic Fields, who else should I be listening to?" Chances are, there is already a thread devoted to your band, and you can pose your query there. As our two stellar mods have suggested, there are lots of great threads with loads of great information around here. Happy hunting!

Perfection at its most genuine definition, sheer perfection.

If only more people used "a forum's best kept secret, the "Search" button." Ah, wishful thinking.

I find it kind of funny that it seemed like every week there was a new "Recommend me some indie!" thread, and now that this thread was made a sticky there's been literally no talk of recommendations. Wink

I played in a death-metal band. People either loved us or hated us, or they thought we were OK

I've heard of most of those, but not SSLYBY or John Gold. What are the like, FUNKrock?

Do you read threads or just look at the titles? Good job.
