Just today I saw three highly glowing reviews of this band. Apparently they self-released their self-titled album and sound like the Talking Heads (who I've never heard). Sounds like something I might like though. Anyone heard any of it?

They've been mentioned in a few other threads. I've been listening almost exclusively to this and the New Pornographers this past week or so. In This House on Ice is probably my favorite song this year. The singer reminds me of David Byrne, a few songs are kind of NMHish, a few remind me of My Bloody Valentine (mostly the guitar noise). Definitely worth checking out.
edit: It's Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, probably just a typo, but for anyone else looking to check them out
OK, these guys sounded good on paper, but I thought the album sounded awful. I really can't stand the singer's voice, but I really didn't like the music either.

It is Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. I bought it through In-Sound & really enjoy it. His voice is Byrne-esque and their music is infectous. It is fairly conventional(No Architecture in Helsinki here) but with enough unique compositions to maintain my interest.

Really I loved his vocals. I've been listening to this band before all of the hype so it didnt get to me, and I think they deserve the hype. But hey to each his own.
I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time, I'd rather not spend the rest of this winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!
Couple of good songs on here. The problem is that they're just an 80 revival band. And the songs on their site are their best. But the opening song is one of the best openers I've heard in a long time.
CYHSY is a great debut with a lot of strong songs. They wear their influences on their sleeves but it works to form a sound that is their own. CHYSY may be one of the best indie records of the year.

eh i dont see what the hype for wolf parade is about. i think the album is extremely annoying, the vocalist at least. There are a few catchy songs. "Shine A Light" is great, but the album is kind of "ehhh".
Well if you don't like the vocalists (there's two different guys singing) then I guess there's not much for you to like. I like both singers, and love the album.
I just bought their cd today, and I think they are amazing. The singers voice annoys me a little bit, it's a little whiney. The way they play their guitars is amazing, and the drum beats are crazy. Great band.

I wouldn't worry about the voice. After awhile, it really starts to grow on you and you start noticing how well his voice jumps around from song to song.

The first time I heard it I thought it was very good which in my experience is not a good sign of repeated playablity. I now think it is just OK for an occasional listen. At least it taught me that Pitchfork is not infallible from my point of view. I tend to think cynically that it is looked on favorably because of it's self release, which of course has nothing to do with the music. Though, barring the David Byrne sound alike, it is different. I personally prefer Wolf Parade's A.T.Q.M. Forgive me if I upset any fans of the album. I
