Does anyone else feel like the Clientele is falling though the cracks of "indie" recognition? The new album, God Save the Clientele, is their strongest to date. It's one of those things that sounds good from the outset and just gets better with every listen. And yet, it seems as if their records don't sell (check out the ranks on Amazon) and their shows are grossly undersold. Apparently, they only had 150 last year in Philadelphia. It's weird because all the reviews for at least their last three 3 albums have been really favorable. I for one, think that they are one of this decade's top bands. Just my opinion of course.
I don't know. They don't really have that edge that could catapult them to wider success. They make sweet, sometimes bittersweet pop music, and I enjoy it...but I think it can sound a bit samey.

I love their last two records (never heard their debut, whose name escapes me), but they do sound a little samey. A great sounding "samey" - don't get me wrong - but samey nevertheless. Their latest will crack my top twenty for sure
