Raoul Björkenheim, guitar (Scorch Trio)
Trevor Dunn, bass (Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, John Zorn)
Ståle Storløkken, keyboards (Supersilent, Humcrush)
Morgan Ågren, drums (Mats / Morgan, Zappa´s Universe)

How does that line-up sound? Well, the album (Box's Studio 1) is as good as you expect. Jazzy, uptempo percussion, soaring, searing guitar lines, reverb and distortion out the ass, and all sorts of crazy arrangements and melodies.

"Untitled 7" is a freakout of mind-fuck proportions.

Yeah that's an insane lineup. I heard about this before but I forgot what the name of the band was; thanks for the reminder.

Much better than I expected. Just got a promo copy in the mail. Although I'm a huge Supersilent fan, some of the sideprojects have done nothing for me. Sounds like what Mars Volta would be like if they had no vocalist and better taste or even a little like King Crimson.

By the way, have any of you guys heard the new Prurient record yet? It's called And Still, Wanting. One of the first things this year to really grab my ear. I think it comes out in a week or two.

Is the new prurient going in that goth synthy more atmospheric noise direction like his last album? I actually thought Pleasure Ground was his best album so I want more!

I also thought Pleasure Ground was the best thing he had done. The new record is definitely in a similar vein but different in its own way. Very good nonetheless.

I had never heard Prurient before and... well, Wow. That is intense. My head feels like it's about to explode... oddly, I want to put it on repeat, but then I think my head really will explode.

Time to take a break with something a little more poppy. But that shit's mad good son.

I picked up Chris Schlarb after that nice Tiny Mix Tapes review. Pretty nice. I listened to a bit of I Heart Lung as well and was equally impressed. Anyone else familiar with these?

I'm wearing that Prurient out. It's his best release to date so far. I'm floored.

I agree. I've never really been a fan of them or related acts like No Age and Psychedelic Horseshit, but I Like Rip it Off a lot

I'm not going to be a total asshole and pimp myself out a million times, but .... just once for you guys who might be interested...
My Millipede tape is out now on Epicene_ESR, it is called Hyrule, and it is noise of a sort. You can order the tape here if you are so inclined and if you just want to check out what my music sounds like you can do that over here. Thanks.

I am not familiar with any previous recordings of Gavin Bryars' The Sinking of the Titanic, but the most recent version performed by Bryars, Philip Jeck and Alter Ego is one of the best things that I have ever heard. I haven't been able to stop listening to it (which is saying something considering the piece is on 72 minute long track). Anyone else listened to this? Totally competative with Basinski's Disintegration Loops as one of the most beautiful, long form pieces of music in the last century.

That Gavin Bryars record is really good. If you guys haven't picked it up or heard it yet, the new Belong LP of cover songs is excellent too, it's called Colorloss Record and it is definitely in line with William Basinski as well. I think they have a new full-length coming out in later this year but I've not heard much info about it other than that.

I feel like this should get some feedback because it's actually really good. It's pretty harsh stuff, but it's really pretty, especially Moldorm. I like that and Grumble Grumble a lot.

Also, I do like the Sinking of The Titanic a lot, I wouldn't say it's one of the best things I've ever heard, but still, very good.

That Colorloss Record EP is super great. They also are giving away their Tour EP online, though I don't like it as much as the EP or October Language, it ain't bad.

Thanks for the feedback grabblegarr. That stuff is on the next CD-R I'm releasing, working on packaging now and I'm pretty sure there will be some alternate tape or vinyl version.

This is pretty cool brisby. Like blega already stated, most of it is harsh but there are also some pretty melodies in the music. Not bad at all.
