Wasn't a huge fan of Remains but not bad. As far as year end lists go (not that I have a standing list or anything...) will Axolotl's Chemical Theatre, Religious Knives' Remains or Machinefabriek's Weleer count?

Yeah, I think there was something about it earlier. I like the album a lot, even more than the new Black Dice record.
By the way, Semitone Smile, there is a place where you can post links to your music on this site it the Streaming and Downloadable Links section. I'm sure you'll get a response there.
Hey Sicnarf, Answering your questions about year end lists including collections/re-releases, I personally never include them. Some part of me feels like it's cheating if I didn't hear it when it initially came out. However, I know plenty of others that don't feel the same way.
I agree with you. Just wondering if any others felt differently. The ultra limited releases some of these artists produce make it almost impossible to stylishly 'discover' their music until something like the records I have previously mentioned comes along - not to mention the fact that most of the releases compiled (at least on these records) are from singles, 7" vinyl and 3" cds which sometimes barely justify the effort to collect when albums like these come around afterward, cheaply assembling them for neat consumption. Just wondering and wanting to cheat to sound hip.
I still think Axolotl's Way Blank and Telesma were posssibly the two best albums of last year, but alas - both were abscent from last years year end list.
Sometimes I wish everyone would just stop making music for a year just so that I could catch up on the innumerable amount of worthy music I miss, discover and then forget about each year...
I guess I am just not hip enough .
Anyone heard the new Magik Markers? Seems everyone is going into more accessible realms this year. I have liked what I have heard.
I definitely agree with that. It seems like even I can't keep up with everything. It's difficult, on top of keeping track of groups you already like that are putting out records constantly, you have to pay attention to those out of left field records that blow you away too. That's what happened to me with Aufgehoben last year. I picked up Messidor out of pure curiosity and loved it. I had never even heard of them before that. I love Axolotl and yet somehow I always manage to miss a few releases after compiling my year end lists.
I listened to the first few tracks from the new Mouthus. Don't let that acoustic number throw you for a loop. It's the first track. After that, the next two go gradually into some scuzzy feedback and drone. It's really good.
I picked up an album by a band from Denmark on a whim from Aquarius Records. The band is Mok Nok and this is their sophomore album Slug Storm. I looked over it originally expecting it to be Black Metal, but I went back and read the description (it was in their Best Of the Week so I figured it was worth seeing what they're all about).
Here's how Aquarius describes them: "These guys are from Copenhagen, and weave violin, drums, organ and guitar into loping mathy jangle and moody mournful slowcore. Everything off kilter, damaged and demented, warped and weird, like an even more tweaked Deerhoof... Most of the record is a sort of cracked pop, stumbling and confusional, but weirdly hooky and catchy, but here and there the band explore other sonic territory, buzzy droning stretches of minor key strum, like a more drugged and art damaged Dirty Three, haunting hippy folk that wanders and meanders, Stooges-y garage stomp, but all of it is slightly and gorgeously, a little bit off. It all sounds as if it was some transmission from another dimension, but in the crossing over, Moknok's pop music got all bent up and twisted, and we love it."
For my review hit up my blog. It's a fun review, I enjoyed writing it.
Picked up the re-master of Kevin Drumm's Sheer Hellish Miasma.
Oh! What a fucken be-yewtie!!

I'm feeling too lazy to do a double check, but I don't think I've heard anybody talking about the new Kemialliset Ysta:va:t self titled album. I've only heard clips thus far, but what I've heard has knocked me on my ass. CMG digs it.
Krautrock seems to be the main point of reference here. In the samples I've heard I don't think I've heard any hint of a major or minor key, but as Mark Abraham, the CMG reviewer says, it's fun! Kind of like a Finnish version of Faust's the Faust Tapes. whenever people talk about them they mention how it sounds like being in the forest...but I have a suspicion it's at least partly romantic fluff - the sterotype of a Finn (which isn't too far off, from my experience .
There was a really positive review for that Kemialliset record in The Wire a few months back. I have some Jewelled Antler CDR of theirs but I didn't remember it being anything worthwhile so I'll have to double check on that new one.
I also picked up that Kevin Drumm reissue a while back Ish. Fucking great record.

The label is nothing if not stacked with some amazing releases. Especially this year.
I picked up the first 3 but still haven't listened! I dl too much! AHH!
Anyone heard of Earthless? They're a really good stoner-rock band that put out an excellent album this year, Rhythms From A Cosmic Sky. My blog has a more in-depth review.
I'm going to add Stinking Lizaveta's Scream of the Iconoclast to my current Stoner-Rock selection.
Does this belong in here? I can't think of where else to put it because the albums cover so many genres.. although I'd say they're pretty proggy and they are def. independent so that's why I put them here.

I'm not a big fan of Ultralyd, Shining, or MoHa!, but I do like Supersilent. I don't really like the new one much though. You would definitely want to check out Supersilent 6. It is totally great. Another great Rune Grammofon release would be Alog's Miniatures. I've heard good things about Huntsville but haven't heard it yet.

Uh oh, I don't know if I can go through making room on my top ten again. I just secured Big A Little A a spot. This year has been the most volatile for my prospective year end list.
It's been a rough year here as well. I've got a solid top two so far but everything after that is still subject to change. So many great records are out and still more to come.
