I still think it's good but like most albums it's not as good as when I was listening to it repeatedly. Like most albums I should probably wait a year before saying "this is the best ever".
I really like about 4 or 5 songs on this album. Mercer should let me remix Red Rabbits so i could make it into a Pink Floyd psychedelic type song about half way through.

This is still my number one for the year. And I know I will like it years from now.

This is still a brilliant album and band but as they get more commercial im gravitating towards similar but lesser knowns like the French Semester. Still a great album of course.

Not to derail the thread, but of Lorenzo's five posts not deleted four of them plug this band. Fishy?
I still ike this album though, it's not great, but it is good.

with "wincing the night away" the shins should have the same commercial success with REM's "automatic for the people" or Mercury Rev's recognition with "Deserter' s Songs". its such a great album with brilliant tunes that most of their rivals in 2007 could kill for.excellent "modern folk-pop" tunes , without any of them to sound boring even for a second.its an album that you r gonna hear after 10 years n will still sound fresh n beautiful.

i thought this album was quite refreshing. its been over a year later since this leaked and i find it to be getting better every day, but i think i might prefer chutes too narrow, but this album still inst a slouch
ya its not as great as chutes too narrow, but i still put wincing in my top 10. the only thing that keeps it from top 5 is that theres about 3 fillers...
Wincing is great...one that will keep The Shins an ever present force in Indie Rock. Plus, the new production is fantastic...you can hear everything pop, every little lick isn't covered up by the fuzzy analog sound of their last two releases (which don't get me wrong, I also like!).
