I'm not Canadian, but I know for a fact that You Forgot It In People is one of my favorite albums of this decade.

Same country, eh? I'll stay American.

1) Neutral Milk Hotel / In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
2) Modest Mouse / Lonesome Crowded West
3) Bonnie "Prince" Billy / I See a Darkness
4) My Morning Jacket / It Still Moves
5) Silver Jews / American Water

I'll undoubtedly think of 10-20 records I mistakenly left off in the next hour. Oh well, I'm content with this list.

Wales

John Cale - Vintage Violence
Young Marble Giants - Colossal Youth
Badfinger - Straight Up
Super Furry Animals - Guerrilla
Manic Street Preachers - Everything Must Go

Edit: Oops! Just realized a couple of those aren't really indie. Perhaps Wales was too difficult a choice for this task...anyone else care to try?

What about the voice of Geddy Lee? How did he get so high?

Madchester -UK

-Oasis - "Definitely Maybe"
-The Stone Roses - "The Stone Roses"
-Joy Division - "Closer"
-The Smiths - "The Queen is Dead"
-Doves - "Lost Souls"

when we talk about music , Manchester alone , could work as a whole country with so many great acts n classic album releases.

Alright, I'll take Sweden:

The Knife - Deep Cuts
Familjen - Det Snurrar I Mi Skalle
Jens Lekman - Night Falls Over Kortedala
Jose Gonzalez - Veneer
Peter Bjorn and John - Writer's Block

Are you meaning indie as in "indie rock" or as in "indie labels"?

Featured in these forums only so that people will look here first before we get a thousand more “I need suggestions” and “looking for new bands/albums” threads.

Same country, I'll do a revised American one:

Okkervil River - "Black Sheep Boy"
Peter and the Wolf - "Lightness"
Bonnie "Prince" Billy - "I See A Darkness"
The Hold Steady - "Boys and Girls in America"
Bob Dylan - "Highway 61 Revisited"

It ain't hallelujah, but it might as well have been.

Brooklyn, USA

TV on the Radio- "Return to Cookie Mountain"- (although Dear Science would be just as good of a choice)
the Yeah Yeah Yeahs- "Fever To Tell"
Animal Collective- "Strawberry Jam"
The Velvet Underground- "The Velvet Underground & Nico"
LCD Soundsystem- "Sound of Silver"

You could debate wether any of these are indie, but the term has become so bastardized that I'm not going to worry too much about it. You could make an argument either way for any of them.

You've got US, Sweden and the UK up in there. Nah that won't work.

I'll pick good ol' England:

Doves - The Last Broadcast
The Futureheads - The Futureheads
Aqualung - Memory Man
Oasis - Definitely Maybe
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm

We used to talk about girls who play guitars.

Oh, man, cool idea.

My Canadian top 5:
Sam Roberts - We Were Born in a Flame
Bedouin Soundclash - Street Gospels
Plants and Animals - Parc Avenue
Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
The Rural Alberta Advantage - Hometowns

Not bad... not bad at all.

A reggae-pop trio (bass, acoustic guitar, drums) group. They've been around for 6 years now.
Their most popular song is "When the Night Feels My Song" from Sounding a Mosaic.
Street Gospels is their most recent release. Released in 2007, and it's just top to bottom a great CD. Great bass lines and catchy hooks, that's for sure. (Ie. "Bells of 59")
