From this year:
Muse- Black Holes and Revelations
Neko Case- Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
The Decemberists- The Crane Wife
Islands- Return to the Sea
From previous years:
TV on the Radio – Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes
Dizzee Rascal – Boy in Da Corner
My Morning Jacket – Z
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – S/T
Bright Eyes – Lifted or the Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground
And if you haven’t heard them yet, any of the three New Pornographers albums: Mass Romantic, Electric Version, and/or Twin Cinema

Hopefully, there are some on here that you haven't heard that are similar to your tastes. Since you have a decent amount of rap/hip-hop on your list you will love the Dizzee Rascal album, it is utterly brilliant.

Thanks bro. Like I said to Mark, a lot of those I've been meaning to check out but had forgotten about or I already love.

It's amazing how well some can recommend when you only give em 20 albums to work with.

I'll def be checking out the dizzee rascal album, haven't listened to any of his stuff.

I second these choices if you really like the Hold Steady, and I'd also add Pleased to Meet Me.

The Hold Steady are heavily influenced the '80s Minneapolis scene. In addition to the Replacements, I'd also recommend you check out Soul Asylum. Their big hit album Grave Dancers Union is a pretty good place to start, but I also really like their earlier stuff on Twin/Tone Records. Check out Closer to the Stars: The Best of the Twin/Tone Years.

I'll also give you a somewhat obscure recommendation in Dramarama's Cinema Verite, which works for a few of the artists on your list.

I've d/l'ed the ones I didn't already have (I plan on buying them if I like 'em... esp. since the bitrate's on the maj. are terrible! Like 192 kbps). Thank you all for your (what I'm sure will be) excellent reccomendations. Why is it that you all are so much more nice than the maj. of other communities? Oh yeah, because this one's about the music, not about the scene.

The Replacements remind me of the Violent Femmes... except with numerous good albums. Haha.

Everyone in the entire world should have bought this album. Seriously. b0arder753, purchase a copy immediately; if you don't enjoy it, there's no hope for you in the world.

Also, TV On The Radio buffs will want the Young Liars EP, which is really quite amazing. Probably better than Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes.

Already got it haha... I've been on TVotR for a bit. I can say that, atleast.

I'm really diggin' andrew bird. A lot. It's really good.

Anyone know anything about harlem shakes? They're playing w/ deerhoof (and the busdriver... odd combo, I don't see how they mesh other than they both have albums coming out in 07 that I've already gotten the leaks of... I haven't been impressed w/ busdriver in years..)
