I enjoyed hearing the alternate versions of the Grizzly Bear stuff from Yellow House and Horn of Plenty, but I don't care for the covers except for the Atlas Sound one.

It's going on my Christmas list. I'm not expecting a whole lot though. I think their songs are okay, but they really excel in albums.

Don't get me wrong, I love Yellow House but the songs lose a lot of substance when they are taken out of context. Same with Horn of Plenty. I never listen to just song off the album.

It's pretty good. I don't really like the covers either but the re-recorded songs and new tracks sound great. I especially like "Little Brother (Electric Version)" because it sounds just like it did live.

I think that Friend is a step forward for Grizzly Bear. A lot of the their previous work had too consistent a sound, but the new EP sounds as though they are really branching out.

Hey there everyone...first post here. I'd like to chime in on the Friend EP. No one has mentioned, "He Hit Me" yet...and i must say, "wow", what a freakin' great song that is. It's like the evil twin brother of their masterpiece, "Knife". I like the CSS poppy cover of "Knife" as well. Alligator is awesome and I like the electric "Little Brother". Did it warrant an 8.5 from Pitchfork? Prob not, but still, when this band gets it right...they REALLY get it right.

I haven't heard all the covers yet, but really like the "new" Grizzly Bear stuff on the EP. I was blown away at how amazing they are live. Yellow House is such a home-spun sounding record that I guess I expected something completely different live. I was especially amazed by the drummer, who is awesome.
