Does anyone else like this as much as I do? I wouldn't call it a classic by any standard, but it's the catchiest thing since... catchy things. Sort of a crossbred Daft Punk/Franz Ferd (though that namedrop makes me want to punch myself).

Some reviews here, all of them seeming to make the Daft Punk connection (correctly, as it does actually all sound like "Aerodynamic"). Also a review here, in less positive fashion.

I saw them open for Clinic. All the headnodding the beats caused me to do made me think of Prefuse. The synth drone also made me think of Prefuse. I kinda wish they'd wank harder. You know, shred and whatnot. They're tight.

i definitely agree with the daft punk comparison. they sound like a band that has a lot of potential to be amazing, however, i don't think they realize it on their album. they seem to spend a lot of time in a "comfort zone" not doing anything terribly new or surprising after the first couple of songs. i do like the album though and i think they can and will get better. and yes, more wank!

This is shaping up to be one of my favorite releases this year. They've got definite influences, but there's not a lot of aping going on. I think if the Postal Service rawked more and didn't have all the douche bag lyrics, it might sound this good.

I'm not a fan of music without words but I really enjoyed a good amount of tracks off the CD, really good to goto sleep to.

To me, "Seventeen Years" was a perfect track. Ratatat opens strong (the first three tracks are indelible) and then kind of dissolves thereafter. It needs more direction. I disagree with Splendid in that I don't think they need vocals (it would drain them of what makes them interesting), but I think that they should persue the ideas from "Seventeen Years," "Crips" and "El Pico." With enough time and expansion, they could probably create something truly remarkable.

I should've elaborated: Not every track after the first three suck. "Germany To Germany," among others, are good, but it's mainly a hit-or-"meh" affair thereafter.

i think el pico is the best one off the album. i saw them live not long ago and they played some new stuff, and most of it was in that el pico vein rather than the slower, minimal buildup stuff later on the album.

i wanted to make sure this topic existed before i created a new one, and not surprisingly, though a little buried, there was.

anyways, everyone should really check them out. i saw them recently at a concert and they were pretty tight.

they are somewhat unknown, but definitely worth looking up

They're good, but I don't really ever feel like listening to a whole record of their stuff. Give me a song or two of theirs, though, and I dig it heavily.

Wildcat is great. Love the yowls.
