I think the sound has something to do with, but then people whose opinion I trust--like eric's--say that there is no difference in sound. I want to like their first two albums but I just can't.
FKA, I'm somewhat with you. The new one is my favorite, although I like both of their first albums as well.

As far as the Arcade Fire goes, I'm a BIG fan of Neon Bible. I keep listening to Funeral, but it just doesn't add up. It didn't when it came out and it doesn't now, at least for me. Please forgive me. At least I get it now, even if YOU don't!!

I'm hap-hap-happy that this album is so great start to finish, but bummed out (and selfishly a little worried) now that they've canceled the rest of their European dates due to Win's continuing sinus problems. I'm bummed for Win, and worried I'll miss out on my first chance to see them on May 2. My wants and needs aside , I hope he does whatever it takes to get better for the long run (surgery perhaps). Get well soon big guy!
I don't know if anyone caught this over at Stereogum, but apparently, Win Butler and Regine Chassagne joined Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band onstage in Ontario this past weekend. They played Bruce's "State Trooper" and Arcade Fire's "Keep The Car Running". Both are awesome, but hearing the Boss sing "Keep The Car Running" is especially killer.

I just watched Arcade Fire on PBS' Austin City Limits, and wow! I've never had an opportunity to see them live, but they are an incredible band. I was really impressed by how multi-instrumental everyone in the band is, especially Regine. She even played drums on "Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)".
This was their set list for the show:
"Black Mirror" "Keep The Car Running" "Neighborhood #2 (Laika)" "Haiti" "Intervention" "(Antichrist Television Blues)" "Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)" "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)" "Rebellion (Lies)" "Wake Up"
----- I’ll be Ben Gazzara, you’ll be Gena Rowlands.

I stayed up late to watch it. They didn't air it 'til midnight here, which is well past my bedtime, but it was worth it. Having seen them live a couple months ago, this was a good reminder of that experience. I'd definitely recommend seeing them live if you haven't yet. Unfortunately, it may be a few years until the next tour, since they've wrapped it up for this year.
For those who missed the show last night, they have some goodies posted on the ACL website link below, including an interview with the band and the performance of "Keep the Car Running." Arcade Fire on Austin City Limits
The more i'm digging both AF albums the more I prefer Neon Bible. Near to perfection, pure art ... I can't imagine this album not to be somewhere in the top 10 on my all time list after 20-30 years.
