This is definitely my favorite group to emerge in '06...catchy pop music refreshingly devoid of ridiculous polka-dotted outfits and sampling of Maxine Nightingale songs. I haven't been this excited about a few singles and a debut album in quite awhile.
Have to include myself as looking forward to the Long Blondes full length album, Someone To Drive You Home which should arrive in the mail next week. Really enjoyed the two LB EPs I've managed to find as well as a bootleg of demos on ebay. Yeah, "Giddy Stratospheres" is a fantastic song, I've loved it since first hearing it on a Word Magazine comp last year.
Since they're also mentioned, I do enjoy the Pipettes as well. Maxine Nightingale is a great source to be sampled!

I can't stop listening to the album.... It's Be Your Own Pet with intelligent lyrics, sonic youth with a british twist, and so many other good bands with a different edge. It's just really good music.
Looks... sounds... pretty Yeah Yeah Yeahs-ish to me.
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

I can't quite get the Pipettes comparison. The Pipettes are quite obviously a callback to Motown girl groups. It's a blatant PR move, but I still find the songs enjoyable in their own poppy way. Both The Long Blondes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have disinterested-sounding female vocals and, it seems, forgettable songs. I've never been able to get into the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and I forsee the same thing happening with the Long Blondes.

I recently listened to the entire album online and I must say I was very impressed. "Giddy Stratospheres," is a very catchy tune. And I love the lyrics to "Once and Never Again." I too, am waiting for my imported copy to arrive in the mail. There's no release date set in the US as far as I know. And yes, Love is All is also a great band. Nine Times That Same Song was one of my favorite albums of 2006. But I think the two bands have a pretty different sound -- Twee as fuck vs. Post punk/new new wave.
