How about "I Never" by Rilo Kiley? Gorgeous song, sweet lyrics, beautiful voice...sounds good to me.

The 6ths-Falling out of love with you.

Yeah, I'm bitter

But if you must have a real song (as in this marriage isnt for money, citizenship, or a bet) I'd go with Sparklehorse's Golden Day, or really a couple of Sparklehorse songs.

Naive Melody perhaps? Or Love has Come to Town?
Cuz come to think about it, the Talking Heads did not go in for love songs too often.

I could maybe see "Holland" by Sufjan Stevens. It's a little slow, but it's a nice love song.

I think when I get married I'm gonna play something by Godspeed or Type O Negative so everyone has to walk really slow...

Magnetic Fields-It's Only Time. I wish this song had been out when I got married.
How about some Nick Drake? Northern Sky or Time Has Told Me.

How 'bout "Aaron and Maria" by American Analog Set? I've never scrutinized the lyrics, but I assume it's a love song, and it just sounds like a nice song for walking the aisle.

OOH. Great thread. It made me search my music list to see which songs might be good for a wedding. I'm only 15, but I'll be sticking to some Indie for sure instead of drowning 100% in sappy love songs. Maybe a few - who knows, she might want some.

Specifically for the aisle:
Moby Octopad - Yo la Tengo
"Locked in a kiss, outsiders cease to exist"
Which Will - Nick Drake
Olsen Olsen - Sigur Ros
My Lady's House - Iron & Wine
Let Go - Frou Frou

Other Wedding songs:
If She Wants Me - Belle & Sebastian
Since K Got Over Me - the Clientele
Sweet Adeline - Elliott Smith
First Breath After Coma - Explosions on the Sky
Jezebel - Iron & Wine
Such Great Heights - Postal Service
New Slang - Shins
Ageless Beauty - Stars
For the Widows in Paradise - Sufjan Stevens
Under the Hedge - Ted Leo/Pharmacists

This may not qualify as Indie, but..."And I Love Her" by the Beatles.

"Naked Woman, Naked Man
Where did you get that nice sun tan?"

Also not Indie, but our first dance at our wedding was "In My Life," also by the Beatles.

"God Only Knows" is another great choice, but also not very indie...

Funny you mention "In My Life," because my friend and I were asked to play the music of our other friends' wedding, and that's what we played when they walked down the aisle. It worked out beautifully...old ladies crying and everything.

All of those songs are good. However, isn't Under the Hedge about a stalker? I could be completely wrong...

Hah, great topic! We spent months coming up with the songs for our wedding. We chose 'Ten Nights' by Spain - probably the saddest, happiest, coolest, most understated song on the planet. The way the guitar lead plays call and response with the singer's voice! Man, brings tears to my eyes just remembering my pretty wife walking down the aisle in the rain to that beautiful song. For our wedding waltz we chose 'Major Leagues' by Pavement. I remember us both cracking up at the lines 'you kiss like like a rock, but you know I love it anyway'. Other songs that I've heard at weddings include Smashing Pumpkins 'Tonight, Tonight' and U2 'Beautiful Day'. Both worked well.
Thanks for the memories. Smiler

If you wanna get married in style, have everyone get drunk and play Radiohead's "A Punch Up At A Wedding"! If you are lucky you may get to fistfight the inlaws! Hilarity ensues!
