From "Mercury" alone, i think this will be a stink-bomb. I could be wrong, but that seems to be my early impression. Who knows?

One caveat though: I never liked Bloc Party, perhaps that has something to do with it, but it seems a lot of people have been hating on "Mercury" of late.

Yeah, I heard Mercury and Flux at their concert, and while they're not bad, I just don't think they will be holding up for very long. They were fresh for a while though.

The quick release makes me think that it's going to be really lame, and they are scared of letting anyone hear it for too long before they pay for it.

Got the album last night, Intimacy, and thankfully it doesn't all sound like Mercury. This album is certainly better than Weekend in the City, sounding more like Silent Alarm with more musical experimentation...read the review at Ventvox.

I actually like Intimacy quite a bit. I was expecting it to be pretty bad based on A Weekend in the City, which was pretty disappointing. I wouldn't put this album up there with their debut, but it's certainly closer to that sound than it is to their last album. It's also somewhat more experimental than they've gone before, they've added some electronic elements. (And I too find "Mercury" sort of annoying.) So it's worth checking out if you like Bloc Party, at least.

This album is a stink-nugget. Keke Orkekekekekeke is annoying. How are vocalists always the least important but, when terrible, can totally ruin a band?

I was quite pleased with the new album, it was definitely a lot better than I was anticipating. Also worthy to note that the physical release will have some different tracks.
