Probably absinthe party... and I'm not really a fan of much of their stuff unless it's on highly refined pirates...

same for me. it took me a while to get menos el oso but once i did i enjoyed. it wasnt an amazing album but i still see myself going back to it every once in a while.

i am curious on what their new stuff will sound like since matt bayles left.

i almost feel silly for saying/feeling this, but minus the bear consistently is the best or nearly the best live act i've seen. i've seen them in london, tempe, and tucson and each time was fun as hell, and they sounded great every time. i personally prefer the sound/production of their later material, although their most anthemic fun-time-jams are mostly on their first full length. i think menos el oso is a stronger listen through and through, however.

i agree. ive told many people that maybe my top five favorite songs from them are on highly refined pirates but i as a whole menos el oso just seems to be better put together and therefore better as a whole.

and i hate for you telling me they are such a good act. i have supposed to been two of their shows. the first, the girl i was suposed to take canceled on me when i was picking her up for the show! and the second was sold out after i made a two hour drive.

but i have heard they are one of the best acts to see from multiple people.

this might be a stupid way of looking at it, but so often when reading about minus the bear a couple years back you'd always here the phrase "tech-rock". i think on menos el oso they just completely owned that and really took that idea to the next level with the absolutely stunning production work, particularly with all the crazy guitar sampling and mixing that with the clean tapping and more traditional "indie rock" guitar parts. it all fit together perfectly, even if the album itself isn't perfect.

i don't know what kind of show-goer you are, but i'm typically reserved, maybe to the point that people would consider me a jaded hipster or something. minus the bear is really the only band that's broken through my demeanor, that's how good and fun they are. your first mtb show will be awesome, i promise you that.

Every summer they come to tampa and I've been planning on going w/ my (stunningly beautiful.. don't know why I included that, but she is, god damnit. Haha) friend Erin for a while now. Maybe we'll follow through this summer.
