I finally found a copy of this today (I've been looking for it since it came out Tuesday) and I'm fairly impressed with it. My initial reaction is that it's not as good as Drum's Not Dead, which was my #1 for last year, but that's it's still a solid listen. It's seems likely that it's Liars' second best album. The last two tracks are very cool.

What i dont like about the songs ive heard is that they are weird songs (even if previous stuff was weirder), and nothing else. I mean, what Liars tries to do? Great music or just weird music? I dont care listening weird music if it's not great or awesome. Like too many other indie artists, Liars is now just ok. I'm a bit bored after two songs so it's defenetly not as good as "they were wrong so we drowned".

What're you willing to do for it?
Just kidding. I'll post a link to it once I get it uploaded. I'll pm you with it too. Here you go.

A lot of people seem to think that avant-garde/experimental/post-punk music is weird for the sake of being weird. I don't agree; I feel that this music is made not necessarily to enjoy like a rock or pop song, but to explore and stimulate and question. A lot of what Liars do is simulate sounds previous bands developed and take them to a new level or take them some place completely different. That's why I like Liars, I like hearing the interesting combinations and crazy stuff they put together. I think I look at Liars the same way other people look at M.I.A.'s music (eclectic and weird but fun).

I think the "fun" element of their music is what really puts them over the top for me. A lot of people seem to think that they're pretentious, but if anything they seem to be having a lot of fun then most bands. Their music is really pretty goofy when you get down to it. I mean listen to "Freak Out". What's serious about that song?

I like Drum's Not Dead much more than this album, but it's still good. I wasn't expecting a more conventional approach from Liars to be this good, so I guess it's a success. Also I think it's more average than their other albums, no extreme highs or lows to it. Better than They Were Wrong... though.
I really haven't listened to anything by the Liars that I've felt drawn towards yet. I've only heard a few songs and some short clips from albums. I was really hoping their Take Away Shows would be something that would show me their character and introduce me to a more interesting aspect of their songs. I was really disapointed though.
Some other time perhaps.

bought the album finally a few days ago and its already a new entry in my end of the year list. i wish i had more time to hear it and place it higher... its a great piece of work that leaves me with the same taste with Deerhunter's lp (now , not so lonely in my list).in some parts it sounds like the echo of JNMC's "Psychocandy" in my ears.standout track for me is "Houseclouds" a song that fits perfect with LCD Soundsystem's "Someone Great" (put these two tracks in a row n you ll understand what i mean). definitely an underrated release.
