I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. On one hand, I don't think the Walkmen have ever sounded better. It's very well executed, and Nilsson's sound suits them surprisingly well. I'd love to hear an album of Walkmen originals done in a Nilsson-esque style.
On the other hand, I think it's too close to Nilsson's original album. This isn't the first time an artist has covered an entire album. Camper Van Beethoven covered Fleetwood Mac's Tusk, and recently Petra Hayden did The Who Sell Out. But those artists both departed from the original and interpreted the songs in their own style. I think it may have been more interesting to hear what these songs sounded like as Walkmen songs.
Any thoughts?

I've been meaning to check this out. I love the Walkmen (even their latest, which was vastly underrated, imo) and haven't heard the Nilsson album before, so these songs will be new to me
I'm interested to hear what people who like the Walkmen but aren't that familiar with Nilsson think of this album.
And I don't think all of the songs will be new to you. I'm sure (or at least I hope) you've heard "Subterranean Homesick Blues" and "Rock Around the Clock" before.
