Don't hate on At Mt. Zoomer. It's a damn good rock album, and completely underrated by the music press.

For shame. It's a really great album without any weak tracks at all.

I don't think it's ahead of it's time or anything, I just think it was birthed into a strange time for music, not very welcoming to something like this. In a different year, or different quarter of '08, I think this may be received differently.

Hits are for squares. j/k. You're probably right, but it has highlights of it own. "Fine Young Cannibals" is like some long lost indie classic. The shitstorm climax of "Kissing The Beehive" is pretty impressive. "Soldier's Grin" has the part where everything slows down a bit and the lyrics are "horse-shaped fire dragging stereo wire". It's pretty magical. Actually there are stunning lyrics scattered throughout the album, even though they are cryptic. This discussion belongs in the Wolf Parade thread, so I wont say any more about it here.

well, fine young cannibals would have been middle of the pack imo on Apologies. Soliers Grin is kinda meh. I gotta listen to Kissing the Beehive again.

Well after listening to Mount Zoomer I got the feeling I normally get after listening to Spoon, bland :/

Well bland is not the right word, I'm sure. Maybe you need to get drunk and try again. Spoon bland? If anything, they overdo it. But Spoon has been discussed enough on these boards. I just can't see "bland" with regards to At Mount Zoomer. The songs are long. Maybe you mean to say that. Tedious? Maybe you were searching for "tedious". I could live with that.

It sounds like it was made by faceless people, like most of Spoon's discography.

I must say that I enjoyed Cryptograms more than Microcastle. The feeling I got from Cryptograms was far stronger than Microcastle... I still love it though.

Not a big fan of Microcastles at all. Definitely prefer Cryptograms and their first album, which is still my fav.
