I picked up the Young Liars EP a couple of weeks ago. I thought most people were just being overly critical when claiming that TV on the Radio had not lived up to this EP with their last two LPs. But after hearing it I can relate. Song-for-song it's more solid then Desperate Youths or Cookie Mountain. However, it's of course easier to pull together five solid songs then ten. Plus the best song on it, "Staring At the Sun", is on Desperate Youths too. I'd say all in all, each of TVotR's releases - aside from their first EP, which by most accounts is very bad - are impressive and worthwhile to own.

I don't get it Joji... Anacortes = Old people and saltwater. Either way, I don't live there. I'm farther North in Bellingham. I probably shouldn't go around spouting locations. But, if you want to kill me, come on down to the fairhaven dorms on WWU campus, ask for "Tron, Tron." We'll have a music battle to the death.

This band's growing on me quite a bit. I just got Cookie Mountain in the mail last weekend. The songs I had previously dismissed as unlistenable are average at worst. The songs that were pretty good are now exceptional. If I were to redo my 2006 list, it would crack the top 10. I'll have to check out their other releases on eMusic.

I couldn't agree more. The album is amazing, and I find myself returning to it compulsively. I'd love to check out their previous release, but I refuse to pay more than 10 bucks for a single CD. So, I'm waiting patiently until it goes on sale.

I'm seeing them in a little less than a month, and I'm seeing Of Montreal in a week. So not that jealous.

Everything they've done has been good.

I haven't heard OK Calculator, but I've heard generally bad things about it. OK, so everything else they've done has been good.

I've had this in heavy rotation for the past few weeks as well and I can't understand how I missed this back in '04. This album is phenomenal, and is better than Cookie Mountain. I'm on the hunt for Young Liars now.

TV on the Radio are an extremely impressive band. Both of their LPs have been excellent, and added to New Health and Young Liars they've got an very strong catalogue so far. Another great LP and I think people will be ready to crown them as one the most important bands around now. Get ahold of Young Liars if you can find it. Here's to hoping, right?

I really can't listen to this band at all. Everything in my musical tastes suggests I would enjoy them, but whenever I try to force myself to listen to them, there seems to be some unseen force causing me to completely hate it.

Ah well. C'est la vie.

So their new album "Dear, Science" comes out at the end of the month. Some of their new songs can be heard here.

I really like this band and think that their last two were the best thing about the years they came out in. Guess I wasn't alone given this.

So, what does everyone else think of the new offerings? Excited? I sure am. I think they've gone in a new slightly 'disco' direction, but I'm pretty impressed.

It has leaked. And it is pretty good on first listening. Some really beautiful songs. Waffle users get on it. It's almost definitely a transcode but who gives.

Wonderful new album. Maybe their most solid yet. FKA, you might get your mind changed by this one.

God, I'm loving "Family Tree." It starts quiet, then starts building into this lovely thing with strings and piano. And you're thinking, this isn't very TVotR, but it's good. Then about 2/3 of the way through it makes sense as a TVotR song.

Also "Red Dress" is hellllllla sassy.

"Stork and Owl" is gorgeous and my early favorite. I'm also digging "Family Tree". I'm not really loving the dance/funky songs. I guess TVOTR have always had this element to their sound, but not this much.

Okay, now that I'm done with the totally-madly-in-love with it stage... I've got to say that it's a really good album. Doesn't have anything as singularly strong as "Wolf Like Me" or "Staring at the Sun" but it's great pretty much all the way through.

It'll finish in my top 5, I bet.
