Yeah - it's a lot better than Meek Warrior. I liked the debut and their songs on the Angels of Light split better though.
The new Angels of Light album ( We are Him ) is a good companion to Love is Simple. The darker side of things. The family choir sings on a couple tracks.

I'm loving the new AoL album as well!

So who's driving this band wagon because I just hopped on! Well, all four of us can ride the band wagon, I think mark will join us.
You know, I have been steadily hearing this album for the past two days now and I must say that it is pretty amazing. I love the choir sounds, the beautiful progressions that some of these songs take. Every single song is a standout, and the entire thing flows wonderfully.
This is really a great album, that more people should here.

I'm not sure if it's streaming anywhere but do yourself a favor and check it out because it is fantastic. But let's not get carried away this thread is about Akron/Family. It's definitely somewhere in my top 5. I'm glad all of you like this album because this band could use more attention.

Have you heard the song "raise a spark" from the AoL/Akron/Family split? Cos I'm pretty sure that's their hardest rocking song so far.
I didn't care for their last one, Meek Warrior, and their debut was too abstract for me to really like, though there were a few more straightforward songs I enjoyed. How does this one compare? More straightforward?

I haven't heard their previous album RL, but this new is a little out there but still pretty good. They have some killer songs on here. I don't like it as much as I first did but it is still strong.
Here, check out this stream that I had posted in the "Best Records of 2007" thread. It has the Akron/Family album and a bunch of other albums.

This is one of the nicest surprises of the year for me. This album hits all my pleasures centers...It's just so fresh, or something. I can't really explain why I like it so much.

It's possibly the most impressive thing they've done yet and it's also their most accessible. I personally loved their debut but I can understand why someone wouldn't care for it. You might like it.

RL, did you make it all the way through Italy? cos that song has a huge effect on me every timei hear it (assuming I have 8 minutes to spare ).
I admit I don't really care for tracks 2 & 3 (Suchness and Part of Corey), but Before and Again and Italyon to the end are un-friggin-stoppable.
As for Love is Simple, I'm still not completely wowed. Don't be Afraid, You're Already Dead is a great track, but the emotional peaks of the debut just aren't matched throughout. I also had a serious cringe fit at the "Everybody's crazzzzzy..." part. way too contrived...

It's been so long I don't remember. I probably should give it another shot, but I'm a bit swamped with stuff I 'should listen to' at the moment. I'll try to get to it at some point.
