Has anyone heard the debut from Windmill (aka Matthew Thomas Dillon)? They're piano driven songs with studio effects sprinkled in, and some outstanding choruses throughout the record. I can understand how some would be turned off by the guys voice. He has one of those high pitched quivering kind of styles. I can't deny the fact, though, that he's got a way with melodies. There are alot of catchy tunes on this one. Multiple listens hasn't affected my appreciation for the record one bit.......even if his singing style takes a bit of getting used to.
I freakin' love this album. I'm not normally into the high-pitched/unusual male voices, but he seems to be channeling the freshness and curiosity and boundless energy of an 8-year-old kid, and I love it. The absence of guitar on this disc is refreshing, and yet it's much fuller sounding than most albums, almost orchestral at times.
