Well, I'm excited about the new Strokes release. I think a lot of people's enthusiasm about the Strokes was dampened by a comparitively weak (In my/their opinion) sophomore album and a few dozen Strokes posers taking over Britpop.
I'm sure hype will pick up when we get closer to the actual release date.

When is the new Strokes album coming out? I, for one, am looking forward to it eagerly. I've been trying a lot of new stuff lately and have been coming up empty. Unlike a lot of others, I really liked Room On Fire. In fact, it was my introduction to the Strokes. I'm also probably one of the only Strokes fans to really hate Franz Ferdinand.

Haha. I bet not.
To me the both the Strokes and Franz Ferdinand sound really hip, but the Strokes in a more happy, fun way and Franz Ferdinand in a more standoffish way. Or I could be making up arguments to justify my tastes. I don't know.

the strokes are a way better than franz ferdinand, but FF is still a good band.. as played out as "Take me out" was, it's a good song. oh and yea, it's current release date is jan '06.
oh and i wanna say too.. if you thought room on fire was good.. imagine what it would have been like if they were't rushed to get it done in just two weeks. unlike that, they had much more time to do is this it and they said in an interview that they weren't rushed on this new cd, so im thinking it's gonna be good.

I am a fan of both FF and The Strokes, but FF more. And for me, it's just the opposite, I find FF more engaging and The Strokes a bit standoffish. That said, I am actually pretty excited to hear the new Strokes. I really think a band's third album is the tell-tale effort. I think this will be the case for The Strokes and for FF's third. I think the third release is where a band either tries something new after two relatively soundalike records -- as I believe will be the case with The Strokes and FF -- or they returned to what worked the first time. I think very few bands have followed a killer debut with an equally killer or kicked up second, and then kept it going with a third.

I too like Franz Ferdinand and the Strokes, but - I'm smiling as I write this - why do we continue to classify either band as an indie. Stop the madness, somebody, please. That said, I'm eager for the new Strokes.
I love The Strokes. They have been my favorite band since their first album came out. I thought that they could do no wrong. But "Juicebox" is almost painful to listen to. It's not as bad as Nickelbacks new single "Photograph", but it's still awful.

Juicebox sounds like the song Weezer has been trying unsuccessfully to write for several years.
"If it were beneficial, their father would produce children already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become profitable in every respect." -Jesus, from the Gospel Of Thomas
Eek. I finally heard this last night. What happened to that great band that put out "Is this it?" Evidentally that was it. "Juicebox" sounds like the Strokes ripping off Franz Ferdinand ripping off the Strokes. But not in a good way.
