This album came out of nowhere for me. Tremendous song craft. Funky, heady, powerful. Truly remarkable.

I was really into this album when it first leaked. It's a good record for sure.

The one thing I've found with Wild Beasts though is that there isn't any one song that's every wowwed me. The closest thing to a "really great" song on this record is "All The Kings Men." They've got a great luxery in having 2 great and very different vocalists though. Really cool how they can play off of each other.

Good release, better than their debut.

This album has some playfulness and some genunine weirdness to it. It is turning out to be one of the real bright spots of '09. It still has about 3 songs that don't do much for me, and I see where anbc is coming from saying it lacks "really great" songs. Sometimes, the songs don't "pay off" like they seem they are going to. That said, "Hooting and Howling," "All the King's Men," "We Still Got the Taste Dancin' on Our Tongues," and "This is Our Lot" are all pretty damn close to great. There is a ton of promise here.
