For some good upbeat acoustic jams check out Langhorne Slim.

Hey FKA... nice to see you again bro. I especially liked Elliott Smith, I've always seen his name around but just never bothered to look up what he's all about I guess. I've also been exposed to some Cat Power and I do like some of her work. There are tons on the other thread you pointed out, I haven't really looked through them all though due to time constraints. Either way, thanks a lot man. By the way... have you heard of The Airborne Toxic Event? They're not really acoustic in the strictest sense, but some of their stuff I really get into.

I very highly recommend Kaia, who is probably my favorite voice in folk music today. She is more known for being in the Butchies and queercore band Team Dresch, but her solo albums are wholly acoustic, both catchy and moving. I think there are some samples on her last.fm page.

Matt Costa. His first album is very good, sweet indie folk. Second... eh, not so much, even if "Lilacs" is an excellent song.

Hey man. I have been doing all right, for the most part. I am glad you were able to get some recommendations from the thread I linked. There are also some great suggestions on here. I haven't heard of that band though. I will need to check them out. Take care.

I can't get enough of that album! And it's the perfect soundtrack to the onset of Spring these days. And I know alot of people on these boards have a hate on for them but in my opinion The Foo Fighters acoustic disc from In Your Honor is also really good. Takes a few listens though.

I definitely recommend City & Colour, I'd say Dallas Green is one of the best Canadian folk/acoustic artists out there. I never really listened to much of his work during his Alexisonfire days, but his solo work has been pretty good.

Another good band I forgot to mention... :P I don't know if I'd compare the vocals to those of the Shins, James Mercer's voice always seems much less melancholy than the vocalist for Blind Pilot.

Rogue Wave, especially their first album, Out of the Shadow fits the bill. Maybe some Calexico, Fleet Foxes and Johnny Flynn as well.
