It sounds like you have similar tastes to mine, so I'll give a few recommendations:
Sebadoh: If you like Dinosaur Jr., this is the band Lou Barlow formed after departing in the late 80s. I tend to like Lou's songs quite a bit while the other lead vocalists, not so much. Check out songs like "Ocean," "On Fire," or "Brand New Love."
Beulah: I don't know much about these guys, but I recently downloaded "A Good Man Is Easy to Kill" off of eMusic, and it's about the catchiest, hookiest indie pop song I've heard. Their music is very bright and cheery.
Figurines: If you like BTS, these guys get compared to them a lot, especially BTS circa '94. Their tunes are kind of goofy, but lots of fun.
I'll also back previous recommendations for New Pornographers, Band of Horses, Camera Obscura, and My Morning Jacket.

Beulah is catchy like a fish hook. I would recommend both of the albums I've heard from them - Their debut 'Handsome Western States' as well as 'When Your Heartstrings Break.'
And I highly recommend Beulah's Yoko. Add to that Harvey Danger's King James Version and the entire Feelies catalog. If you go back far enough, you really need The Undertones, Shoes' Black Vinyl Shoes, Vibrators' Pure Mania, etc.

Wow, thanks for all the help guys. I'll get to all these albums right away!
By the way, I have already listened to several of the bands mentioned in this thread, such as Wolf Parade, Spoon, Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire and etc. I like these bands too and some of their tunes are also very catchy, melodic, and brightly expressed.
I think i'll start off with the recommendations about My Morning Jacket, Band of Horses and Beulah. I already listened to some Beulah and Sebadoh material and they were pretty good. Especially Beulah; i really enjoy their songs.
One question though.. couple of you guys mentioned Animal Collective. Are they similar to Wolf Parade? I think i heard of this band before but im not sure. Anyways, thanks for all the recommendations!

To answer your question seriously, unlike Captain Negative, no, they bear no similarity. AC is experimental freak folk. I'm not sure who I'd really compare them to, but definitely not Wolf Parade.

Animal Collective is like if you were to mix The Beach Boys with the Boredoms. I wouldn't call them freak folk just because of Sung Tongs. Some of the earlier work like Here Comes the Indian is borderline psych-noise while Feels is super psychedelic avant-pop. That's my personal approximation of the Animal Collective sound. They do not sound like Wolf Parade though.

Hey. Great. Very helpful.
Take your grumpiness elsewhere.
I thought you, of all people, would be able to appreciate that delectable piece of grumpiness. We need more curmudgeons in this world. I'm just trying to do my part.

Hee hee. Wolf Parade does surely suck, but Animal Collective's "Sung Tongs" is a pretty decent album.
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

i like both bands, but there is no real comparison in terms of sound/style. wolf parade is a pretty straight-forward rock band, and although i'm usually more interested in more experimentation, sometimes you're just in the mood for some straight up rock.
But Animal Collective...they're f'ing ridiculously good. Start with Feels and Sung Tongs, for sure.
They're good, I agree, but prepare yourself for some oddness. I wasn't really expecting what I got from Animal Collective, and it took some amount of time to get used to them.

I personally like Wolf Parade better then Animal Collective, but that's a little hard to compare since WP only has one album (and a bunch of EPs with the same songs as that one album.) Something about Wolf Parade's energy just works for me in a way that Animal Collective doesn't. Both groups are good, though. Feels is probably ACs easiest album, and I think their best too.
