I've been listening to this band very much recently. I first heard about them through positive reviews for their most recent album Hypnotic Underworld. That album is sadly one of the "Pitchfork Best New Music casualties" alongside Architecture In Helsinki, Jim Guthrie, Espers, and others.
For those who aren't familiar with them, they are Japanese and have been releasing albums since the early 90s. They are usually descriped as psychadelic, but their discography is a heterogenous mix of prog, long jams, and lush folk.
I started with Hypnotic Underworld, but have recently become entranced with their 1999 LP Snuffbox Immanence. While Hypnotic Underworld is a prog rock epic (in the absolute best way possible) Snuffbox Immanence is generally more accoustic in its sound, although electric guitar does appear. I would compare its gentle yet vibrant and powerful sound to the aforementioned band Espers.
Post your own opinions, including what, if anything, I should get from this band next. My soulseek screen name is donkey909, and I have both of these Ghost albums shared.

i own hypnotic underworld and enjoy it very much. since then i have put snuffbox immanence on my "cds to buy" but still havent purchased it. but yes i also recommend Ghost.
I like Hypnotic Underworld a lot, except for the first part of the suite (the spaced-out, amelodic part)- it's a little too long for me. "A little" being six or seven minutes.
I haven't checked out their other stuff (not countind Damon & Naomi With Ghost), though- will do.
