So this band's discography is sort of difficult to keep track of because they released one album this year in Europe with a slightly different tracklist. In any case, 'Explosion' is their debut here in the US and it's damn good. Kinda like somewhere between No Age and The Black Keys with some sloppy, math-y guitar stuff. I don't even know if that makes sense. It's good.

Is Explosion the same record as Workout Holiday? I have the latter, bought it as a used import awhile back. Great stuff. I was reminded also of the Black Keys, as well as Can, Capt.Beefheart, Blues Explosion and Black Flag. I'm finding it a very addictive mess.

I'm surprisingly very impressed with these guys.

I've been looking for Exposion, (there's no L)but I've heard Workout Holiday, and it's pretty awesome.

I'm fairly certain Exposion is the U.S. pressing of Workout Holiday. I read that somewhere, but don't take my word for it because I haven't listened to either, though i am intrigued now.

So I've listened to some songs on their Myspace and it sounds pretty good. I wanna buy this album. But when I encounter douchebaggery like "CDs seem pretty worthless to us" it just turns me off. Who are you to deny people to choice who might want a physical copy but don't have record players?

It makes me not want to listen to them for this reason. I would have supported them, but when reading comments like that, it's definitely a turn off.

Not really sure why this is such a big deal. Artists have been issuing vinyl and even cassette only releases for awhile now, so its not like White Denim is the first to do so. And using your same logic, who are you to deny them their right as artists to promote and distribute their music as they see fit?

Then again, maybe I'm not worked up since I have a record player Big Grin

The album itself is pretty good garage rock, didn't blow me away at first listen but will definitely give it a few more spins (figurative spins, since I don't have the vinyl).
