So, we've got Jon Spencer's band Heavy Trash and Nick Cave's band Grinderman. They've both released excellent rock n' roll albums this year.. which one do you think does it better? Explain your choice.
I'm going with Heavy Trash because I think it has more diverse sounds on it while still maintaining it's focus and doing a really good job of interpreting some classic sounds.
P.S. The Heavy Trash album is released tomorrow... grab it.

I guess I would have to go with "other." I haven't heard Heavy Trash yet--I think their album comes out tomorrow--and I do really like the Grinderman album. However, there are a lot of rock albums I like as well, including Spoon's, Okkervil River's, Dinosaur Jr.'s, The White Stripes' and even The National's albums as well.
If I had to choose a "rock 'n' roll" album (which I guess means a heavier sound with more of an emphasis on quitar and drums)--or maybe just means that it could never be confused for "pop"--I would go with The White Stripes' Icky Thump. But like I said, I still do very much like the Grinderman album.

i'd go for Dino Jr. although i'll admit to not having hear Heavy Trash. Grinderman is a great one but if i'm looking for a rockin' album, with great guitar and all, i'll grab Beyond first and foremost, then Grinderman then Icky Thump. personnally, I don't even put Okkervil or The National in the same category as the aforementioned

Well, the album was released today.. I'm not sure if there are any streams out there so here's a download link to help you determine if it's worth your money.
