I was going to put this in the "National - Boxer" thread, but I decided to instead just share it here, if that is okay with everyone.

I found this archive of National rarities, B-sides and Demos that I have enjoyed a great deal over the past week. It gives a lot of depth to their music when you can hear the very early work of a band, and how their songs change over time.

The National Collection

I mentioned the Boxer outake "Tall Saint" a while back, but I just listened to the demo version of "Slow Show". These are too amazing to sit in a freezer somewhere. At least check out the Liberation CD, but the early home demo called "No Profesionals" is a great bit of National history as well.

I was about to say, "another band with the word National in the name?!" I mean, I already get my iPod confused with The National and The National Lights. "At least it doesn't have Field in the name," I thought.

Then I found out this was something else entirely! I'll definitely check this out after work.

I used to get Grand National and The National confused before I'd heard them, easy mistake.

Excellent find...

You get mistaken for strangers by your own friends
when you pass them at night under the silvery, silvery citibank lights
arm in arm in arm and eyes and eyes glazing under
oh you wouldn’t want an angel watching over
surprise, surprise they wouldn’t wannna watch
another uninnocent, elegant fall into the unmagnificent lives of adults
