Mmm...I don't think something like NME ever really loves or truly appreciates an artist, but just try and start or join in on the biggest band-wagon (terrible, but unintentional pun) possible. Too many times have I seen them build up a band to ridiculous heights, only to bring them crashing back to mediocrity again.

Thanks for the laugh man. I love this stuff. As they say, a chuckle a day keeps the shitty indie rock away!

what are you doing here in that shitty thread? are you really for the laugh or for the reek... ?
btw, I don't work for NME. I have the worst grammar in the site if that makes you happy. i love the arctic monkeys as you can see n i m not ther only one. if you dont like them its not a problem cause music is somethin personal. but it s a problem , rude people like you to post here...just for a laugh... personally i prefer the bad grammar than bad behavior.what about you? at least you couldbsomeone with words such as respect , patience , mansuetude ... c mon, grow up n then u can come back to talk about music ,if you still love the reek of that thread. ................................................................................................. back to the music now.
Heaven forbid my opinion clash with yours. If you want, I'll call up ArtFan and you and he may talk about how great the Arctic Monkeys are all day long! Doesn't that sound like fun? Maybe you could even make a "shitty" thread that "reeks" (your words not mine) about just such a subject hmm? Oh wait....
Hey, CouldBanyone. I'm glad you feel the need to consistently bash forum responses as a self-masturbatory act, but your act is old. Do you have anything constructive to say about the band, or is it just all criticism of the fans? Because for a metacritic user, you seem rather oblivious to the critical and social acclaim the band has received. I also find the band refreshingly smart and sophisticated. You claim sk writes for NME, and I'll admit their posts are a bit too enthusiastic, but judging by your childish antics, it seems you write for your grade school newspaper.

To provide constructive criticism of a band one requires, by its very definition, a construct to begin with. The "Arctic Monkeys" (whatever the hell that is supposed to mean) have yet to provide a solidly constructed song to date. Therefore, any criticism is ultimately non-constructive.
In addition I would like to point out the hilarious fact that we are dealing with clashing opinions. These opinions are possessed by myself, you, sk, NME, and everyone else who has heard the group. My opinion does not necessarily agree with yours, or sk's, or many others. Does this make my opinion invalid? Does majority rule override my personal evaluation? Of course not. My original posts in this thread were tongue-in-cheek, half-hearted jabs simply meant to offer an opposing viewpoint, which, in the case of mass-marketed "next-big-thing" indie rock, is a welcome perspective. I would recommend you take a deep breath, realize that this is a critical evaluation music forum, stimulate your hopelessly underdeveloped humor gland, and have a laugh with me.
Oh yeah, and if I'm writing these responses as a form of self-masturbation as you say, then I can thank you personally for giving me the wack-off material.

Was it as good for you as it was for me?
Did you just call your own viewpoint "a welcome perspective"?

Yes, I have a fleeting hope that all individuals on this forum have unique and insightful viewpoints. It's a crazy, idealistic notion, but I'm sticking to it. Humor me for now...

Um I think you're missing my point. You called your own point of view "a welcoming perspective," as if you thought that what you said was completely unheard of and other's opinions were banal and held by everyone. Conceited much?
I respect those who do not like Arctic Monkeys, CouldBanyone. But all you've done here is knock people who DO like them, and that is not intellectual thinking. You also have a pretty closed-minded view of music if you think AM does not make songs simply because they do not conform to what you define as a song. If you had something interesting to say about the band, I'd listen. But all you do is knock the hype. Since this is a debate forum, I would hope you could offer a bit more.

Well, what I meant was that each person's perspective is welcome, including those that aren't the majority. I know it came off as conceited but that was unintentional. Judging from several responses in recent threads, I am a "band-basher" who loves to go in an criticize...
So it seems that some people on this forum, including "thetreesgetwheeledaway" are under the impression that I shouldn't be giving out criticism. Perhaps he is still sore after I called his own music trite and boring.
I understand my criticism of The Arctic Monkeys is not academic. I don't have time to type out a thesis regarding why I think they are musically juvenile (they are kids after all) but I don't think anyone would want to read that and I doubt it would make me look less egotistic, it would probably make me look like an elitist music snob (am I?). I don't really care either way and if you want to bash bands I like, or bash me as a person then go ahead.
