Was wondering what people thought of this album. It's the sophomore effort from these guys. Britt Daniels (Spoon) produced it, and it definitely has moments that sound alot like Spoon. The other influence of this group would have to be Radiohead. The lead singer's voice can sound an awful lot like Thom Yorke on several tunes. So basically, the sound of this band is a fusion of Spoon and Radiohead......not too shabby. The album won't blow you away, but I find I keep coming back to it again and again. Very good effort from these guys.

"Percussion Gun" is a really fun song. The rest of the album, sadly, doesn't seem to stick - a downfall that their first album had for me as well. Great start, weak finish.

I pretty much agree with Chamberk. It's an okay album, but not really memorable. A lot of it just comes across as Spoon lite, sort of like Cold War Kids or something.

I don't think the album sucks, but will I be listening to it in a year? Probably not.

That said, I still rock out to "Kid on My Shoulders" pretty often.

And they put on a hell of a live show.

I saw their live show as well, very well done. As for the album. Meh, it's a bit of a snoozer. After all the energy that Fort Nightly had, I was pretty disappointed with it. FKA pretty much nailed it as something akin to Cold War Kids.

I must say, after stating that I liked the album, I did have the feeling that the album might not have much staying power for me. It's a bit on the mellow side. And let's face it, if you're in the mood for something that sounds like Spoon or Radiohead, just listen to the real thing, right? Thanks for the feedback.

I was disappointed. Their first album was awesome.

I prefer the latest one to the White Rabbits' first album - much more concise, meaningful and percussive. The first was entertaining but a little too self consciously "I'm crazy, me."

I agree that you can hear Britt's production hands all over the album but I certainly don't agree about the reduction of the album to a Spoon imitation.

There is easily enough of WR's own personality in the mix to make "It's Frightening" a tasty soup with it's own merits.

Then again, I've never had much time for the "authenticity" or "make it new" bandwagons - aside from the boredom of mere replication, if a given mix of ingredients works then it works regardless of the identifiability or age of its ingredients.

I agree with these comments. Right now, It's Frightening is hovering somewhere around No. 10 on my list, and will likely make my top 100 for the decade.

I think White Rabbits really have something special. I love their sound.

They did a cover of a Lennon track with Britt from Spoon. Watch it here.

I agree and i'll also say that "It's Frightening" will be in my top 100 of the decade!

Thanks for the video link - all things Spoon and White Rabbits are welcome!

Also agreed re the great "it's frightening" prob ending up top 100 of the decade status - however at the moment I am pretty hesitant with any releases this year gaining entry before more time has elapsed following the end of the decade.
