their debut single , “The Age Of The Understatement” , sounds like the arctic monkeys doin the coral (first album psychedelia & 60s feeling) doin "Knights Of Cydonia" (muse) with spaghetti n strings (scott walker n tindersticks) doin the score for a bond film ...!!! sounds epic n it only lasts for 2:55!!!
I've heard the whole album. in fact, I just finished it.
I immediately want to go back and listen to it. I am not sure if it's really good yet, but I know that a good number of times over the 12 tracks (15 including the singles' b-sides), my ears perked up, and I took good notice.
It's quite different from the frenetic style of the Arctics (and I haven't yet heard the Rascals' EP, but I'm getting on that)- it's a far more Indie Pop sound... in the vein of the harder tracks from Belle and Sebastian's Life Pursuit (like White Collar Boy... though not as heavy handed a beat...)- it has a certain rock/pop quality reminiscent of 60's pop (and the frequent but well done strings do help add to this) but it isn't as hard edged as one would expect. Quite the pleasant listen; I'm gonna go back and give this a second go right now!

The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age of Understatement is a terrific little album. Fronted by Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys and the lead singer of The Rascals, it has some great, catchy music. It also features arrangements by Owen Pallett, it came out today – highly recommended.
listening to it right now. as you say, has great catchy music. but i'm not sure it's the type of music that would hold up to the test of time for me. only time will time

Yeah I've been listening to this plenty over the last week or so - it's quickly vaulted to one of my favourite records of the year. Think I'd say it's better than both Arctic Monkeys records too, Turner's songwriting is getting better and better. Good move collaborating with Owen Pallett too.

Okay okay okay OK Ok ok ok ok... It's just so goo&%$8*&54*%$goo goo go .. GAGA GA GA GA ga-ga-ga-ga-ga-ga-gr-GREAT OF AN ALBUM!!!. Why? Because it repetitive? Because it sound's like a Neil Diamond album if Neil Diamond had a cool friend? This album just bothers the hell out of me. Just when I was getting used to The Arctic Monkeys, I have to start all over with this preposterous curriculum.
P.S. I reserve the right to blandish the album & its fans at a later date.
I don't really love this or The Arctic Monkeys. I just don't believe any of it. It's like one big 60's brit-rock karaoke party as far as I'm concerned.

no.its not the album of the year.its not mindblowin n blah blah blah (see my comments for A.M.).its not somethin new or extraordinary. so why should i have to hear it or buy it? cause in that album you can really find
