Well, if you haven't heard, YYY's Myspace page is having a listening party for Show Your Bones. I already listened to the whole album, and although it's very different from Fever To Tell, it is still just as awesome as its predecessor. "Gold Lion" and "Cheated Hearts" are my favorite tracks. What do you guys think about the album? If you haven't listened to it yet, go to www.myspace.com/yeahyeahyeahs.
I think it sounds like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs without any balls (ovaries?). I've complained before that I want them to return to the wide-open, aggressive style that they displayed on their debut EP. Once again, they haven't done that, nor have they made a killer single like the one that saved Fever To Tell from being totally average. The songs still sound OK, but I was just holding out hope that they'd cut loose once again. No dice.
I think it's an excellent album, and a solid step for the band towards career longevity. The progress and willingness to experiment they've shown will keep them relevant for a long time. My favourite track on the album is "honeybear", but I am also quite fond of the tracks before and after it.
"If it were beneficial, their father would produce children already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become profitable in every respect." -Jesus, from the Gospel Of Thomas
I think it's a decent album. No, it probably won't be on too many top lists, but I don't think it's bad. It's got a few very good tracks and a handful of so-so ones. I still say it's more consistant than "Fever to Tell".

don't get me wrong, i love the rawness of fever to tell too. it was awesome.
but u have to admit, this cd does have a little more emotional depth then fever to tell, karen's realized that she can't screech and squeal forever.
karen's vioce has matured greatly, and it was for the better. she can still hit those high, screamish notes too, but it's when she's calm, cool and collected, that's when her voice soars. it's def. going on my top ten list at the end of the year, no matter WHAT anyone says.
if i was them, i might have cut out 1 or 2 of the slower ballads (the sweets, way out. just to keep there fans from yelling "sellout"! and replaced them with something a little more rockin', like there old stuff.
but they still got some magic left in them yet!
