No worries, I thought thats what you probably meant but you never know. I totally agree that anyone who is a big fan of No Age should at least check out similar, otherwise they'd be doing a disservice to themselves. I do enjoy a lot of noisier music and genres, it seems more isolated cases that bother me a little, particularly harsher noise like Prurient and parts of the Eat Skull album where the frequencies get a little too high for my taste. I should try listening to Eat Skull on my home system instead of with headphones, maybe that'll make a difference, since I did enjoy the album besides the ear-piercing distortion.

In terms of the catchy hooks on Nouns, also check out the first 45 seconds of "Teen Creeps".

Definitely. Like Times New Viking, this is more of a sound-system type of album. Too much hiss and shrieking-type noises to work with headphones.

Everytime i put on a mix on my headphones i get worried that a TNV song (Prurient is worse though) will come on and i will need to turn my iPod down before my ears start to bleed.

I still love "Nouns"! Definitely top 3 for me right now. There really is a lot of melody going on there, and the noise is an obvious aesthetic choice, but certainly not something genre-defining that propels No Age into that murky, nebulous "avant-garde" category. Come on, "Teen Creeps" is pretty damn anthemic. I think if anything the distortion just draws emphasizes the rock sound and makes it more badass overall, as juvenile as that sounds. Whatever. It's fun.
It's also a really easy 40-ish minute listen; lots of cohesion and flow going on here, IMO, which is something that good noisey rock bands like Sonic Youth have accomplished on their better records. No one agrees with anyone else's personal hyperbole, of course, but this is one of my favorites of the decade. Razzer

Wow, that IS a hyperbole. Decade? I don't know about that.

It's a damn good record though, definitely top five material for 2008.

Well I mean, it's not that odd if you agree it's top five material for this year. I meant one of the albums in the 40-50th spot for the decade. Maybe I think about these things too much. Big Grin
